My system just started having problems (it continually reboots) so I figure it is time to upgrade. It is 5 years old now anyhow.

I have an older Asus MB that only supports AGP. I run a duel link DVI AGP card that allows me to run my 24? at 1920x1200. When I upgrade I would like to be able to run two monitors at 1920x1200. I also wish to be able to play UT with good FPS when it comes out.

Ideally I would also like some sort of WI-FI solution built into the system since wiring in my house sucks. I also would like to utilize as fast FSB and memory speed as possible without inflating the price to greatly. I'm also rusty on clock ratios, so don't want to make the mistake of buying a proccessor for a board that will not utilize it.

Can someone suggest a MB, Processor, Video Card solution for me. I?m not looking to spend silly money. My last system I configured without OS for 1,100 with a video card upgrade of about 250 3 years later.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Welcome to the forums :)

I'll let you research the specifics, but my suggestion for motherboard would be the P35 chipset.

Asus has the P5K with wifi built in, though bear in mind i'd likely suggest purchasing a separate wireless N card or adaptor (PCI or USB), which would mean you could spend less on the mobo & then get a wireless card.

For CPU, if you OC, you can do well with pretty much any C2D or C2Q.

I'd suggest Q6600 or Xeon X3220/3210 if you have money to spend, or otherwise, perhaps the E6750 or E6600.
Keep in mind even the lower end C2Ds OC quite well, so you can always save money that way.

Video card?
8800 GTX
HD 2900 XT 512 MB
8800 GTS 640 MB/320 MB.
Pretty much just depends how much you can spend.

If you want to play newer games like UT3, i would suggest going no lower than the 8800 GTS 320 MB, as really, if you want to run maxed settings @ higher resolutions, you'll likely need a very good card.

As for RAM, it once again somewhat depends on if you OC & which CPU you decide on, but you'll likely want to look for DDR2-800.

I gotta run to werk, sorry, but i know others will have better suggestions for you.

Good luck.
