I will piss my pants if that tranny gets offered in the IS350 too. And AWD.

I drove the IS350 couple times around a (short) track at the taste of lexus event. At last year event, they had the 330 also so I got to drive that as well. I think the IS is a nice looking car but I like the looks of the new 3 series more. Although I felt the IS is more refined (marginally) on the inside and is definitely faster than the bimmer, I liked the handling and the balance of the bimmer better, and thus enjoyed driving the 330 more.

Also a new lexus can never win over countless young professionals like me who grew up drooling over the M3.

Sure they can. I've owned 2 Bimmers and now own an IS250. I've had it with unreliable German cars.

Small and light = good handling and mileage.

heh, I think we have different opinions on light :)

Well, it's the lightest of all Lexuses (other than the small coupe), for what it matters.

That is definitely drool worthy, I just hope they extend the coupe down the line and dont just leave it to the super expensive IS500.

Yeah this rumor is quite old--there's been talk of a V8-hybrid IS since before the new LS even launched. And most of that article is mere speculation--carmakers test concept vehicles at Nurburgring all the time (it doesn't mean they are production-bound).

Besides, $70k for an M3 killer? Seriously, anything above $55k is way too much to spend on a compact sedan. I don't care how fast it goes.
