IS350 also doesn't come in 6 speed.. one of my major requirements.
That's exactly what I felt before driving the IS350, I didn't really want to bother with an automatic and had tried many.

Anyway, the price difference I can understand, it's quite a bit. I'll PM you a list of cars in a minute I've driven incase that matters.

The G35 is one of the best looking cars on the road today (IMO) and it sounds incredible. Definitely a no-brainer for me, G35 all the way

I had this same dilemma. I wanted to get an AWD luxury car in manual around $35K. The only cars that fell in the category were the A4 and S60R. The 330xi wasn't out at the time.

I ended up forgoing the AWD and got the G35 instead. Although it was completely useless when it snowed 8" a little while back I love it. I'm considering getting snow tires to make it somewhat drivable in bad weather. If worst comes to worst, I'll drive my SUV when the weather gets really bad.

I love that color.. Diamond Graphite. I wish I could find a 2004 coupe somewhere in that color.

I would recommend going for an 05. The 05s are significantly improved over the 04s.

How so? It's about $4-5k more expensive to buy an 05.

For starters, 05 = 298HP 04 = 270HP.
The interior is redone. I looked at 04s when my friend was looking for a car and we both decided the Acura TL was better because the interior of the 04 G35 was tacky. The new interior is much better (real brushed aluminum 😉). The exterior is redone too. The trunk is new along with the lights. The front ground effects are new. Rims are new. There are a few more things that I can't remember off the top of my head. The 06s are almost the same as the 05s. I think the minor difference is they have bluetooth capability. There is a clearance on the 05s right now. I just got some kind of invitation from Infiniti on it.

Edit: Oh yeah. They changed the front lights as well.

Yeah, I was just reading about the differences. It looks like I do want an 05 then. Too bad the local dealership is trying to offer me 8.25% APR.

I got mines back in the Summer for 1.99%. I would get the G35, drove it for almost 6 months now & I love it. I was looking at an used 04 & the interior felt more cheap then the one I eventually bought, a new 05. The new IS wasn't out when I purchased the G35 so it wasn't an option. However, I believe the G35 is going to be redesigned with an upgraded engine next summer... that may be a concern for you. The IS wont be redesigned for probably another 4-5 years.

In terms of performance the G35 would walk all over the IS250.

as for refinement and build quality, the other way around.

depends on your priorities i think. creature comfort or zoom zoom.

Yeah, that's really tough. The G35 is fast and sporty, and a coupe. The IS250 is a little nicer on the inside, but I don't know if it's worth the loss in performance.

why not go between and get a TL

because fwd is crap.

FWD?
😕

not like you'll take it on the track. better snow traction FTW.

Right, because the track is the only place where RWD vs. FWD matters
On the TL test drive on public roads, torque steer was quite prevalent.

I believe one of the major '06 changes for the G35 is push button start.

I'd get the IS350 over either of those cars. I've driven the IS250, IS350 and G35 coupe. IS350 FTW!!!

BTW-The IS250 is well over $30k. The one I drove had the NAV system and sticker was $36k.

The IS350 is more like $38k without NAV. G35 new will cost mid-high $30k also depending on options.

friend just got a 06'. loaded with sat nav too. i told him to slam on it up to 70. torque steer is a myth.

and you are quite right. "Right, because the track is the only place where RWD vs. FWD matters". i don't see people with maxima, altima V6, camry XLE's, accord V6, sonata V6, impala V8, bonneville GTP's CL Type S, and solara's crashing their cars when they try to accelerate from a red light. i do see people with camaro's and BMW's spinning in wet snow.

lies, i feel the torque steer of my friend's 04 TL everytime i try to turn the steering wheel. FWD FTL.

Honda did tried to reduce torque steer (you don't get that overwhelming pull from a launch anymore), but it's still horrible enough for me to feel it.

Why would you want to spend $32k on a fwd car anyway? dont' you feel like you're getting jipped? I don't get the concept of getting a luxary fwd. Ok maybe the ride is smooth but a fr is definitely smoother. The only time I would ever consider buying a TL is if I have to choose that between the Lexus ES. They're both glorified camries and accords, nothing more, nothing less.

With that said, it's quite obvious you have never driven a RWD car and don't know the differences between the two.
Even most TL owners will admit to their car having torque steer. If they don't, they're lying or they don't know what torque steer is.

And no one said having torque steer equates to crashing upon acceleration.
It just makes the driving experience a lot sh!ttier.
Aren't you the guy that keeps spewing misinformation in car threads?

I think you misquoted.
I'm the one that agrees torque steer on FWD sucks donkey balls.

How hard are you guys launching your sedans that torque steer is enough to influence your car buying decision? Where are you guys driving these things? 😕
