I am going to the same show next weekend and hope to find out more about the printer.... I know it is one of those nice printers Like the BJC2000 series types (excpet BJC is cannon and cannon i know sucks)....

its probably the lexmark 1100. it uses a single cartridge at a time, black or color. the black print is actually half decent, while color is of course not good at all, but fine for simple graphics. the black is in fact much better than the bjc2000. gee, when canon makes a cheap printer they really go all out on the "cheap" hehe.

the rebate comes fairly quickly, maybe 3 or 4 months if i remember correctly.

cartridges cost around 30bucks, and the output quantity is probably around average. nothing to get excited about, ie like how canons mysteriously consume a large amount of ink yet are marketed as "efficient".

so is it worth it? sure if you're a lowly college student who just needs it to print papers with, including an occasional color title page even; or you happen to think the output of the bjc2000 is good? my advice? try to bargain it down to 60. i doubt they're selling like hotcakes. hope this all helps.

if its the lexmark 1100, is it the one that takes 3 passes to do color? 1 pass yellow, then cyan, then magenta?

I got the rebate for my Lexmark 5700 printer about three weeks after I mailed it. I was mildly shocked. :)

The Lexmark Z11 and Z22 are decent printers, not great, but they do a good job on photo cards and the like. Cartridges last a reasonable amount of pages and they aren't too expensive. The z1100 is a bit lower on the totem pole as I recall.

Avoid the Lexmark 1100 like the plague. Total P.O.S. I owned the even crappier predecessor...which had just about the worst paper feed mechanism one can imagine.

The higher-end Lexmark printers are significantly better. They just get you with the cartridge costs.

Let me save you some time... Lexmarks are suck. I've gone through a 5700, and 3200, all in the course of 6 months. Light print loads. Don't know, maybe its my luck, but you couldn't pay me to have another foog'in Lexmark.

I got the Epson 860 the other day, we'll see how it works.
