Heard about people talking about tigerdirect problems. I personally made a few purchases from them since last year and haven't had any problem yet. Maybe I just lucky?

Hi,

Does this product writes to Compact Flash Card?. I have a dvd player which can read photos, mp3 files from Compact Flash Card. I am thinking of listening/viewing my Mp3 files/photos on my Sound System/TV. So, can someone use this as a writer too?

br20000, that's a great question.

Usually people use them to read card from dig. cameras. For some reason they got labeled as readers. They let you use your card like a drive on your mac or pc. So they should be called reader/writers.

from the picture I can't tell... How does the unit read smartmedia? It looks like a PCMCIA slot with a PCMCIA to CF adapter. DOes anyone have experience with this unit??

I have this unit and think it's great. I use both CF and a couple Toshiba 2GB PCMCIA hard drives, and this unit read them perfectly. I don't use smart media, but it has a slot specifically for SM... no adapter.

I had been using this reader for months. There is no official XP driver for it.

I've had this for a while (over 1 1/2 years) and it works perfectly. Used all three types of media with no issues and it works fine in WinXP. Mine was a new retail unit. Perhaps people needed the driver updates or got defective units -- hence the large quantity of refurbs. BUT, mine has worked without fail in all OS's (don't use Linux though).
