Buy.com has the Lexar 256 MB Secure Digital Card for $72.33. Plus shipping (and handling?) it came to $82.30. The shipping is steep for a 1/2 ounce card, but I am noticing merchants are raising prices on memory so I jumped on this one for my palm 500 series pda.

Is this a reliable card? I've heard mixed results about SanDisk, but not much about Lexar.

The price of flash memory is on its way down at the moment... very fast. I wouldn't jump too quick on any deal. I was stung once last week with a 128MB CF card from Amazon.com.

I'm not a big fan of Buy.com's shipping and handling charges policy lately. I hate to see companies messing with the quoted price. I mean, $10 to send something the size and weight of a postage stamp? Come on! Even in its retail package that's a rip off. I'd rather buy from a website that said "$85 with free shipping", at least you'd know right up front what you're in for. Also, if you have any probs with Buy.com they charge you $10 to speak to someone on the telephone! What sort of customer service is that?

Rant over! :)

Yes, Lexar is very good quality and has faster write speeds than the Sandisk. I would not buy Sandisk either.
