It looks fun, but it looks like its designed for smart phones. It has that "i'm a smart phone game" look to it. I couldn't pay more than $5.00 for it.

Which is amazing since it's cross-platform and includes iOS and Android as platforms! Who'd have thunk!

Trailer was great, but I'm a bit iffy about it. The back of my mind is saying, "bugs", "design flaw", "lack of depth"... etc. All things I imagine that could be part of the experience.

I never pre-order anything anyways, but I'm going to wait for reviews or gameplay videos.

All of those thoughts are typically whatever I think when I see Paradox Interactive unleashing a new game on the unsuspecting world.

I don't know how it is for you US folks but the game is now available to pre-order direct on Steam for UK customers.

Tutorial has humour. Ship building is easy but if you change to a different type of hull (Fast, balanced, heavy armour) then it strips all components from that section (ARGH! especially if you're selecting big bruiser ships and fully kitting them out, changing hull, saving without noticing and left confused).

Haven't tried a match yet but they've mentioned load issues on EU Server 1 and looking to balance things out as well as hotpatch within an hour or two.

Had fun with small ships last night, two scouts and scout bridge with 2 medium cannons and 2 stealth mine launchers vs some guy with a single heavy armour hulled Atlas.

Struggled to outmaneuvere him in a fashion which would provide me with an advantage over his heavily armed and armoured ship. I don't think that he had any form of radar but he always seemed to detect my stealth mines. I started off by finding him and my ships could reverse faster than he could move forward, enabling me to launch my forward firing stealth mines into his path... which didn't really work well.

Had plenty of fun though. Aiming rail guns and watching for their impact, both visually and audibly is quite a joy. In one match an enemy scout casually bumped into my Atlas/Dreadnought front on. Firing a full frontal heavy cannon barrage at him, taking out most of his health in an instant. I had lined up my rail gun shot predicting where he would be and right at the end of the first turn, the rail gun fired and he went kaboom. A very, very satisfying kill.

I always think of Magicka, which was decent for me, when I think of Paradox, but apparently, they've published quite a few other bug-fests. Was watching the TGS Podcast and they were talking about how bad it has been on there too.

No, it means that it was released for PC (and Mac, I think) on the 30th and scheduled to be released for Android and iOS on that date.

That's not really much of a surprise. If you really want your game to make a big... splash... then you'll release it on Thursday on Apple's App Store. You can release any day you want (as long as the App Store isn't frozen for a holiday or something), but Thursday is when Apple refreshes all the images and stuff for the storefront. So, it's a damn good chance that you can get your game featured!

I'm usually a Paradox avoider because of notoriously buggy launches but this one seems alright. Matchmaking is a bit slow though I cannot tell what that is down to. Not encountered any bug that I have noticed but I've not been as attentive to detail lately.

I might grab the Android version on some sort of sale. I have a nice 10.1" Android tablet and the game seems like it would be finger friendly.
