You have a BS in "General Science" -- that sounds absurdly broad. That's like getting a degree in "Stuff."

Yep. I didn't add the second part because it's almost embarrassing. With the General Science degree, you have to pick two areas of emphasis. Mine were chemistry and psychology. Mainly because I already had some upper div psych classes. I was a chem major but despised P. Chem and just wanted to be done with school so I switched to General Science because it was easy.
Absurdly broad? Yep. I had three job interviews after graduating.
One for a lab tech job at a small biotech firm. I think I only got the interview because a family friend worked there. I assume I didn't get the job because I couldn't compete against those who actually had chem degrees.
A second with AMEX financial services where the guy was a total salesman and talked about how everyone there worked 80 hours a week.
A third where I was actually offered the job selling long term care insurance to old people.
That is why I went back to school for a second degree. This time in computer science.
