letting my gpa slide after accepting a job offer...

so i had an engineering internship with a big company last summer...did great work, and they asked me to come back full time after i graduate. well its been almost two years since they saw my gpa when i applied, and in that time ive pulled a 2.6 average, while before i had a 3.2. the thing is, i know everyone else there has like a 3.5 or higher, and everybody just assumes im smart, and have a great gpa.

im so screwed if they ask for a transcript

i think i had to have>3.2 to apply, and usually >3.5 to get accepted, but have not heard about it since

Not in all cases, some cases will be strict about it.

OP - is it an established rule? As in, when they hire people, do they make a requirement for a certain GPA to even be looked at?

In my experience they usually don't care about transcripts. I have had one prospective employer request my transcripts though. It was a case where the top two candidates (myself and a guy) where basically identical on paper (same degree from same school, similar job experience, performed similarly at the interview). They requested transcripts and looked at what classes were taken and grades :shocked:. Since I had a pretty good GPA I wasn't really worried. I didn't get that job, but it wasn't because of my grades.
 
I would say if you did good enough work they will definitely consider you, just because your GPA fell doesn't mean you're not a hard worker.
