I switched over to the Mavs games at points and thought it was Buebious out there. Collison looks so much like him.

The Mavs have some decent guys, and Carlisle is still the best coach in the NBA. They will get some wins this year but I'd still expect an early exit in the playoffs. Dirk needs real help, not horizon of their career guys.

Jason Terry, Dirk, Ray Allen all better off the top of my head.

You're joking, right?

highlights

His excellent vertical posture, high release point, left hand/elbow position, and effortless wrist action is model perfect imo.

Allen's is of course awesome too...not as beautiful but is as graceful. He's a better shooter and they always look great splashing thru the net. Dirk's is lenky, but he get's unbelievable arch. Jason Terry has a great shot, but looks fugly.

The other shooter I've always loved watching is Rasheed Wallace. His high release point is insane.

Ray Allen has that catapult like movement in his arms. Nobody seems to have that.. Maybe Rashard Lewis (much slower) And when Allen is on you get scurred when he takes the shot.. You dont get that feeling with Melo because he shoots way more bricks .

Ray Allen has the stroke you teach someone when they're learning the game. It's as close to perfect as anyone has ever been (along with Reggie Miller, but he's not active anymore). Melo has a great stroke as well, no question. But whoever taught him that also instilled with him the lesson that basketball is a game that you only win by yourself, so if anyone on your team asks for the ball, fuck them, shoot it, and then stab them in knee and blow up their house when the game is over, because how dare they question you? They're just bad teammates.

Melo is that person who is good enough individually that you're happy they're on your team and bad enough as a teammate that you absolutely don't want your team to pursue them as a free agent. If Melo's your best player, you can go far in the playoffs. If Melo thinks he's your best player, you're out in the first round.

Who has Melo played with over the years? Who is his number two guy that keeps the defense from loading up on him? Who else is out on the floor as a stopper?

Nobody says things like you said about Jordan, even though he is/was/will always be the classic case of ballhog and me first player. His fame spawned a league of me first players in the late 90s and early 00s that almost tanked the league. The only difference between Jordan and other me first scorers is that he 1)played under one of the greatest coaches in history 2)played alongside one of the top 50 players of all time and one of the best glue guys and best wing defenders in history 3)played alongside the best (by a mile) rebounder in history and one of the great post defenders.

You could put any elite scorer who has shortcomings in other areas (defense etc) like Durant, Melo or Kobe into a situation like Jordan had and they would all win you rings.

I thought Miller had sort of an odd stroke, with a little bit of sidespin at times.

He also crossed his arms in his follow through which made him look like he was saying, "durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". I did love his intensity though - usually he would get that crazy guy look, similar to Duncan's face when he gets called for foul.

I like Steph Curry's shot.. very quick, super high arc, and he barely jumps.. very smooooooth

I think you're right. He's got that slight snap when bringing it back a little. It's minimal and some other nba shooters bring it back a lot farther, but that seems to be the difference between Allen and Anthony. Anthony appears to go more straight up, similar to Rasheed's monstrously tall jumper.

Much agreed. Albeit he's got a shot that looks a lot better when it goes in. When he's bricking, it's easy to think, 'geez, slow the fvck down and you might start hitting again,' :D But I think his form and timing is very consistent - sometimes he's just off.

Lakers pull the win even with horrible free throw shooting. They're starting to mesh better and although Kobe closed it out, he should of trusted Gasol and Howard more towards the end.

Gasol works so well with Howard but I just can't see them competing against the top teams with those two. They can pick up Korver and Josh Smith from Atlanta for Gasol, which would make the Lakers very frightening.

Meanwhile the Knicks are steamrolling people still with STAT out. This link does a pretty good job of talking about that:

Rondo will probably be dealt with pretty harshly even tho it was just a shoving match, made into a mini-brawl by everyone else who got into the fray. The worst part about what Rondo did was probably get involved with humprhies when the initial contact wasn't against him. It's the 'enforcer' mentality that escalates things and should be penalized strongly.

if you look closely towards the end Rondo tries to get a right fist in but he doesn't connect. KG basically elbows Wallace in the head. Idk...

Rondo should be suspended 1, probably 2 games. KG should get a game too. Hump should get a flagrant.
