Verizon did a software update, but that didn't resolve it. Could be the battery, but that's pricey. My New Every Two time is March 2010, so its a ways away.

I'm betting I can likely convince VZW to move up the date. If not, I know Best Buy likely will because they want to sell me the phone.

I'm torn between the Env Touch and the Samsung Rogue. The HTC Touch Pro 2 looks good, but its a bit pricey and probably too much phone for me. Any ATOT members own the Env Touch or Samsung Rogue care to comment?

I have one co worker with the touch. Looked like a nice device.

I have another co worker that had the exact same issue with her NV2. She ended up getting the Rogue (data plan required). It is a really nice phone. She seems to like it.

Adding a data plan would only add about 5 bucks to my monthly bill. Might have to swing by the VZW store saturday to see if they'll deal.

it's the phone. i have an enV2 and it randomly powers off as well, even after a software update.

really odd because the LG's are normally pretty solid phones. my brother had the enV touch and really liked it. it combines the dare and the enV3.

I posted my issues a few times here in the forums, but the search is shit so I guess I'll have to repeat myself.

Have owned an Env2. It was OK but not great. And I occasionally experienced the issues you guys have. Now own an LG Voyager and its even worse. Any web use is almost certain to cause crashing and resetting. As will anything else that sucks up tons of memory at one time. The phone has been out for a while and LG cant fix the issue. In fact, the new LG Env Touch and Env 3 are also known to have this issue. If you dig around on the web you can find stories.
I will not be buying a multimedia phone from LG ever again. And I highly recommend everyone else research their next purchase thoroughly. Also, dont get a brand new model if at all possible. Get one thats at least a year old but is still selling well. That gives you a better chance of getting a quality phone. Sadly the Voyager and Env 2 have been selling for a long time, so this policy is not always good.
Next phone for me will be a Nokia. I never have any issues with them.

Have you considered something like the Samsung Alias 2? Seems like a pretty good non-smart phone. I'm biased because I don't like touch screens.

Hell, if you're cool with getting a data plan, what about a BlackBerry? The Tour is supposed to be awesome.

I tried out an Alias 2 at the VZW store last weekend, felt like a cheap piece of junk.

On the Tour, I really don't like that style of phone. I have a really hard time sending text messages on the BB keyboards. I like the form factor of the Env2, Env3, Touch, and Voyager phones, which is why I'm looking at the Samsung Rogue.

I was over at one of the nearby VZW stores that's on my running route. I walked in and asked to take a look at the Rogue, but they didn't have it in stock, and estimated that'd it be the 17th. They offered to hold one for me with a deposit, but I told them my primary goal was to put hands on the phone first. Learned after the LG Chocolate that you should never buy a cell phone with examining it in person first. Also told them that my New Every Two wasn't due until March 2010, but they stated they could work with that.

My New Every Two just came up and I need a new, regular phone for chatting and text. I also need to get the hell away from my Motorola.

Any Verizon suggestion? LG was great last time I had one but that was years ago.

Up until recently, I liked my Env 2. Its really good for texting because of the QWERTY keyboard. Its just lousy for web browsing and seems prone to battery and power issues.

No idea if they've been resolved in the Env 3 though.

Battery and power issues are sadly my main concern, considering how much of a commodity simple phones have become, and one that my current phone fails miserably at. A QWERTY keyboard would be great but not at the cost of my sanity and constant charging...

All my phones thus far have been LG phones. The first was some generic free phone when I first signed with Verizon, the second was the first generation Chocolate and the third was the Env 2 I have now. The Chocolate was a piece of crap. The first phone wasn't bad, but it was just a phone. The Env2 I got in July 2008 or so and didn't have any problems with it until recently.

Maybe you should look at one of the Blackberries? With VZW, they start range from 30 to 150 with contracts.

Yup, they have an old 8700 series for 20 bucks right now, but for the money I'd have to recommend an 8800 or 8300 series for fifty dollars. They are much nicer and over a two year period you'll be happier.
