I just ordered this new Chieftec case from newegg and I'm surely going to light the thing up once I get all the hardware in there. My question is, what are all of my options for case lighting and what should I go with? I was looking at these Cold Cathode light kits from pcmods and I'm wondering if I should go with one of these. I don't want to spend much more than what these cost(about $30-$35). What do y'all think?

I knew about neon lights and stuff, but cold cathodes are clearly superior to those. The only other option I was aware of and considering was LED kits, but I think the cold cathode might be the way to go, eh?

I misread your title to the tune of "case lightning" and I thought your PSU fried. I'll move along now. :D

http://www.luxeon.com/products/star_index.html Nice bright LED's that gideonX once did a review on... I put one in my case (bought from http://www.markhannahsurplus.com ) and it's like 1/2 of a cold cathode. Do a quick search and you'll find people are replacing the bulbs of mag-lites with these puppies.

Yes, CC lights are nice too, but it looks very spiffy when you put some led's in your PSU and light up crystal fans.

Ditto what BatmanNate said. :)

But since I'm here. You could rig an LED case light fairly easily for a couple of bucks using a few resistors and green or red LED's. Or for a couple of bucks more, you could do blue. Total cost would be a half hour of time and well under $5. It could be even cheaper if you use an online retailer like Jameco to buy the stuff.

I have a green Cold Cathode light in my case. It's very bright. It's really bright even with a blue tinted windows. I have a 80mm crystal clear fan with BLUE LEDs and when the CC light is on, I can barely see those BLUE LEDs. So go with either CC light or BLUE LEDs. CC light costs alot though. One is more than enough for your case.

Just got one of those cases for my main system. I've got a PC Mods blue cold cathode light kit and a clear 80mm fan with two blue LED's for the side panel on the way. I'll post some pics when it's all done. :)

Insane3d: Please do! That will be like mine when I'm done then. I'm really anxious to see it with the cathode. Nice case. ;)
