Doug DeMuro got a hold of a Hummer EV and did a YouTube review on it:

He seemed to like it! I'm not sure how many of them they will sell at $110,000 each, though. You're probably doing something wrong if you make the $75,000 Rivian look like a budget alternative :) If GM really wants to convert their entire fleet to electric by 2035, they're going to have to figure out how to make these things a LOT cheaper.

I'm also still not really a Doug DeMuro fan. The way he talks is kinda annoying, but he does have a knack of getting a hold of early release cars before anyone else. He also used to drive a Kia Stinger GT like the one I have, so he has a decent taste in sport sedans :)

its expensive but I can option out a Denali or a navigator to that price. how much is a model x now?

i'm sure the chevy and gmc electric trucks will be cheaper as well. The gmc gets reviled in about 2 weeks.

It's a cool vehicle, but at the same time... I wish car makers would stop launching their next-gen EV ranges with very high end models loaded with features that make for great YouTube videos, but artificially pad the costs.

The Hummer is one example... just go through that video and you can see all kinds of areas where GM added a cool but ultimately niche feature. I know GM is unveiling an electric Silverado in January that should be much more accessible, but that won't be available for a long while.

I suspect it may come down to managing limited initial product volume and ironing out kinks before the mainstream models arrive. Still, it's frustrating... I look at EV like this and the Rivian R1T and know they could have made a $50K vehicle, but didn't.

This guy is awful. There is a reason why marketing and advertising companies have focus groups. We don't live in interesting times. The world is a joke.

Having an annoying personality seems to help YT channels stand out of from the crowd. I think he has the highest views/subscribers of any car review channel. Just like Linus Tech is the biggest tech tube site, and he is really annoying as well.

I could care less about his personality. I care about cars and he points out interesting and noteworthy things about cars old and new.
He's got a unique approach to reviewing cars and in a sea of boilerplate Top Gear wannabe's his channel offers something unique.

I think you would care if you found him annoying. So it seems you don't.

I wouldn't care about his personality if it was a written review. But watching someone annoying in a video for half an hour doesn't make any sense to me. It's a nails on chalkboard thing for me. Why subject myself to that. But hey if that's your thing, here's another video: :D

So when I saw it was Doug, I didn't click. Plus there were tons of initial first drive reviews a while back. I doubt there is any breaking news that I must see now.

Yeah, Linus from Linus Tech Tips is annoying as well, but for a different reason. He's a total shill, always trying to sell us something.

At least Doug Demuro isn't always trying to shove a water bottle or an overpriced mouse pad down our throats in every freaking video.

His voice, his mannerism, and pretty much everything about him annoys me. So I avoid watching his videos unless it's a car I really care about.

Linus does have a nasally high pitch voice but he is funny to me so it equals out. the guy in the yt for this seems to articulate his words very clearly and try to catch your attention with his speaking. (almost like has taken a speech acting class haha)

as far as the ev hummer, i was expecting it to look more rugged being what it is but lets see it in the mud. can you soak it?

It can Ford up to 32" of water, so it should be fairly water tight, but I wouldn't want to get it stuck overnight in a mud bog.

Not many people will do much serious mudding in their >$100K brand new SUV though.

how much do you think people spend on mudding vehicles? 100k doesnt sound to far off the fact that its electric is the crowd that is new to mudding perhaps :p , to bad its 110k ;P (but of course to maximize profit you release the best most expensive first instead of selling out of the cheap model)

Perhaps I'm just a cheap skate, but if I was going to build a mud truck I'd just get a rusty old $8,000 Jeep Wrangler and put a lift kit and big tires on it. These people who are spending $50K+ for tricked out Ford Broncos for mudding seem insane to me.
