loved lurker drops before the later patches

What happened in the later patches? I always played 3v3 money maps where a nydus was the most advanced zerg tactic, lurker drops were "rushing" usually and i would get tanked for it. So i never did it.

I can't remember exactly, but I think overlord transport tech took much longer to research later on. Yeah it was rushing, and usually with my buddies holding the fort, I'd beable to just fly around dropping, so that we never got to point of using nydus. True you could get tanked, but you could do much more damage to the terran dude by taking out his scv's and his detectors.

one of my favorites was the stacked cannons one, where you had to block the enemies from going across the map. i played for days until i mastered it and got tired of all the noobs that kept losing the game.

Ah, all this starcraft talk is making me miss it, too. I wouldn't have the slightest clue as to where my SC disk is any longer, anyone know where I can pick up a cheap copy?

Then they came up with "Stacked on your OWN!" meaning when somone dies, the entire game dosent go to pot 😀 just that one newb. Was a good idea but took away the teamwork thing.

Once goliaths got the missile upgrades, terrans were unstoppable. A few BCs, Sci Vessels, goliaths, and siege tanks. Sprinkle in a few scvs for field repairs and that takes a whole lot of effort to stop... And then you had to deal with the nukes.

At least for reaver drops, the shuttles were squishy with a few missile turrets. Though if they were out, kiss those SCVs goodbye.

You can get the box set at any major retailer for around $19.99.

Best SC moment ever. Played against a total noob online (didn't know the guy). He's zerg, I'm terran (normally Toss, but I told the guy I could kill him with Terran). He attacks my line of siege tanks (about 6x in siege mode) + assorted marines and firebats with 30 zerglings + 10 hydralisks. Carnage FTW!!! But it gets better...

The game continues like this for a while (me barely loosing any units while slaughtering his forces) until I have him down to one base. Over the course of the game, I had constructed 6 nuke slios in an unused corner of the map. The n00b had almost no spore colonies, and his orverlords were huddled in a corner of his base. My ghosts walk directly into his base and paint targets. I don't even have to micro! Computer says: "N-N-N-N-N-Nuclear Launch Detected". His last words: "fu".

custom mapping/mission creation was awesome in the game. I did most of that, made my own stories and then played them. I never really liked the whole multi-player aspect of it all. Though fun, i hated the whole "rushing" or "zerging"

great game at its time.

danny~!

those tower defense maps became very addicting for some reason

Gotta love Starcraft.

I don't think Starcraft 2 will be out anytime soon though, with SC still selling so many copies around the world still. It's practically the Korean National Sport, making a new game would divide all the professional players, something Blizzard wouldn't want. SC2 will a long time to come.

THe money maps did ruin the melee part of the game, thats all almost everyone plays now.

I enjoy the maps that blizzard made, they kick ass and are awesome and each map has its own strategies.

stupid money maps 🙁

Somone else posted about it, and it brings back memories, for those that have played it, what did you find the most fun?

Personally i liked to backstab in 3v3 0clutter games or 7v1comp games. Peoples reactions never get old, manipulating emm too, thats always fun

Me -"I think RED! is the bser! Look at his DEFENCES on the map!! Hes totally preparing to ATTACK us!!"

Newb -"Yea lets get red you guys!"

Red dies 5 minutes later hehe.

I think starcraft has stayed new for all these years simply due to the fact that it is so well balanced, and its harldly a difficult game to master or make maps for. The community is constantly releasing new maps all the time, which is a massive part of its popularity IMO. For those of you that have never played UMS, go do it, you'll love it. Play the thing Version black. Overall i think that has been my fav part of starcraft, the inventive UMS maps. Theyre really clever for the most part.

So that was you!:|

I can send you a copy of it... You've got the serial number though?

ah StarCraft. haven;t played that in a long time. anyone remember how easy it was with the fleets? like 48 zerglings all attacking a base simulatanesouly? it would be over so quickly...or a fleet of Battle Cruisers and/or Protoss Destroyers? god that was fun. only problem is that back in those says, they didn't have to worry about anyone having a 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 res. it looks bad today. i wish they'd update it or something. they used to work on StarCraft: Ghost. Here is an interesting site with vid of the game.. enjoy.

heh its kewl. i recently reinstalled it for kicks. no more no cd crack it seems🙁 atleast none that works with music..doh

Yeah...the balance that Blizzard achieved with the three races in SC is amazing. I seriously hope they make a SC2 because playing SC in 640x480 sucks:frown:.

exactly why i cant stand playing it sometimes. while it was really good a few years ago, after playing warcraft3 and its expansion, starcraft feels...dated. especially in graphics. but nonetheless, a damn good game thats still fun to play at lans and such.
