lets talk about Ikea..

Good or bad? I like the looks of their stuff and it seems reasonably priced.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Also, 2 hotdogs, chips and a drink for $2.50 isn't too bad.

the boy needs a new bed and I wouldn't mind a new couch. They have some really cool loft beds for him and some sweet looking couches.

Ikea's great for the price range. It beats the low end competition in quality, while only costing a bit more. When I need cheap furniture, they're my first choice.

Dont get anything that gets repetitive stress such as their beds or sofas. But everything else works damn well. The Jerker was the best desk ever and I have one of their big ass bookcases. I've also used several coffee tables, lamps, clocks. The stuff looks nice and is functional

There furniture just seems to be designed for small apartments and houses, which is great for me. Beds are not really of great quality if you plan on making whoopie on them.

As I said in another thread, I'm not crazy about them, their stuff just seems to fall apart and not wear well. On the other hand, I did buy a duvet and a couple of pillows from them: good deal and I'm satisfied, so I guess for some things they are ok.

As for Ikea, it's fine as long as you keep your expectations in line with the prices. When you're buying cheap furniture you're getting cheap furniture. Ikea is better cheap furniture than most.

Ikea is awesome. I was furnishing my apartment and got a desk, dresser, and chair there for about $300.

I find if you drill new holes for extra screws, a lot of Ikea furniture will hold together better. Ikea puts the minimum number of screws and dowels and possible in their furniture it seems.

They're about as uncomfortable as they look IMO. Me and my roommate went shopping for a couch not too long ago and tried out some ones at Ikea. None of them were very comfortable at all. We wound up buying an extremely comfortable used leather couch from a nonprofit store for $150.

Their beds and sofas are mostly pretty uncomfortable. I've tried a few sofas that were better than their usual ones, but then again they cost as much as other ones.

I like Ikea better for their modular type furniture series, as well as inexpensive bed frames and dressers. (The dressers and cabinets I get are the ones that really benefit from extra screws/hardware.)

They have solid wood beds. We had one, and it held up alright. It's not the nicest looking thing, but it met our only requirement - it didn't require a box spring. We couldn't fit our queen sized box spring up our stairs.

Our Ikea couch has also held up fine for 5 years.

Their sofas may suck, but the Poang chair is pure awesome.
Beautiful and comfortable.

They also have a kid sized version of the chair too.
