DBavaria repeated #16!
29. Why overclock? So threads like this are made possible!

34. Because it can be done.
35. It allows higher frame rates in games.
36. Windows boots faster.
37. Your processor may not last as long . . . but it is better to burn out than just fade away.

EDIT: You guys sure lost count along the way . . . only 64 to go.

38.) It's cheaper (and easier) than slapping a supercharger on your car's engine, and almost as much fun. No skinned knuckles either ... ;)

Well, I could have gone and bought that 1000MHz cpu from Intel for about a Grand, or I can have the 1020MHz that I'm typing this from for about 12% of that. Now granted the C2 and the PIII 1GHz CPU are not a totally fair comparison, but it's a pretty good woody for the money when it boots up and says 1020MHz. :Q

I can't believe the way you people brag about doing something that steals from the companies that make the product.

Russ, if you've had a change in morality, as it pertains to overclocking, it couldn't have happened much past the last episode of StarTrek. :Q

Russ has been posting every day or two recently in the DC forum about the shelf full of overclocked machines in his office that are cracking viciously away on RC5. Theres's been no change of heart there. :)

Come on, Russ.

You were selling Venerable Celery 300As that were oc'able to 450-504 little over 2 years ago. I even inquired about the availability back then. I remember reading all the Celery reports as to w/c 300A was the one to get (Clover et al/Malaysia or Costa Rica/Week 18 and above).

Why the change in stance?

I personally think as that it's a choice of the consumer who purchased the chip or vid card to oc it not. If it burns up, well no one's to blame except the consumer that took the chance and oc'd it.

*Now if that same individual oc's said cpu/vid card, burns it while oc'ing it, AND tries to return it for warranty service. That I can't stand for. That is immoral.

Update
Russ got me there. ;)

39) That look on your non-overclocking friends face when you tell them that your comp pimp-slaps theirs around the deathmatch arena for about $1000 less.

43. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than tweaking cars, and it doesn't kill you if you fvck up.

44. 'Cause after I follow a simple set of OCing instructions, it makes me look smarter than I really am.

D'OH! Wrong number. See? I'm not that smart. Grr... :)
