Litestep I would guess, at least I know a theme in litestep that does that.

You should try Object Dock. Window's default docks wont do that you are asking for.

From the way some of those icon captions are blurred, and given what kind of files they are, it looks like I know where somebody keeps the pr0n... :p

It's more about blurring stuff most likely to get me sued ;) (I use my desktop as the holding pen for stuff before moving it to my mp3 folder or tv show folder).

This is buried in settings:
Right click My Computer - Properties - Advanced Tab - "Settings" in Performance - Visual Effects tab - Scroll down all the way and select "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop." Also, make sure your icons are not locked (right click on desktop - Arrange icons by - uncheck "Lock web items on desktop"

I think that's what you were shooting for.

I used to do the same but I prefer a download folder on one of my other HDs that windows is not installed on.

Put a shortcut in your quicklaunch and it is just as easy to access

Well, I'm really short on space right now. I usually keep all my data on my second partition, but right now it's spilling onto C: as well. I bought a drive yesterday (or two days ago?) so on Monday I can do some serious cleanup ;).
