you don't see the mess, you see your screen or what you are doing.

Yep, when I'm in "crunch mode" or very busy then my desk can get ridiculously messy. It's when I don't have much going on that my desk is nice and tidy.

I like it messy because everything's in easy reach, and I know exactly where to find it.

Mmm I don't have a picture available, but I have two Samsung 20.1" LCDs with my Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse. Other computer related devices include a D-Link router as well as some old WD 250GB external HDD. There's also a desktop organizer thing for pens and such. My desk is a bit messy right now though as I'm a bit of a receipt whore. I keep them all, but I haven't gotten around to putting them in my organizer (which needs to be reorganized to remove receipts from 2+ years ago, I think). There's also a lamp.

My desk itself is a weird one... it is a L-shaped desk, but isn't designed to be used as one. It's like some dude took a short desk and a long desk, but them beside each other and then threw a quarter circle in the middle to combine them as they still have all the legs in what ends up being the middle. Because of this, you can't really sit too easily in the middle without spreading your legs like a cheap whore.

My chair is relatively new as I had to replace my old one. It's some microfece chair I got on sale at Staples ($150 down to $79, not too shabby I think).

Probably something people may find amusing is that I have a box (from a USB->SATA/IDE adapter) that is full of change.
