Is that a fiber-optic connection because that is REALLY fast.

Guessing fibre to the node. Cable can get pretty crazy speeds over short distances. The cable company here offers up to 940mbps! That's more than even the fibre service which goes up to 250mbps. Downside of cable is the crap upload though but even the fibre service here is limited to 30 even on the higher tier.

No, COAX cable. Been a little flaky with everyone working at home, think my node is overloaded. I can get faster speed, but that's $$$s extra.

My friends in the next ZIP over are getting gig fiber from att for $50/month w/o datacap. I'm stuck with comcast paying almost double for a lower tier of service and subject to a cap

I have ATT DSL and on a GOOD day lately I might hit 22-24 but usually it's way lower, time for a call with some "social engineering", assholes won't cut me a dime slack on the bill.

Comcast seems to give me pretty consistent download speeds of 350 Mbit download and 10 Mbit upload. It doesn't seem to matter what device I test it on, either. I get basically the same results on my desktop with hardwired Ethernet, or my laptop or smartphone in Wi-Fi.

I'll bet that nobody could pull off download speeds like that with an iPhone back when this thread was started in 2011. :)
