I was playing TF2 tonight and just having so much fun that it reminded me of the good'ol days at UAF staying up all night and playing Starseige Tribes on my brand new Diamond Monster 3DFX Voodoo II. What sick graphics & game play this game had at the time. It was like being in a real world.
Sigh...those were the days.:)
So let's see some video(s) of games you have fond memories of.

This guy is really good, too. I never played this level but I don't think I could match what he's doing, and I played this game for most of my childhood, lol.

Actually, that guy is terrible in my opinion. :p He gets hit a lot and lets many enemies get away. It's possible to beat that level on elite without any phase shields and still nab all of the enemies you encounter.

I used to play that game so much that I had practically memorized the positions and order in which the enemies came in all of the levels. I've kept my original pilot over the years and have gone through the game 30 or 40 times by now. It works nicely in Dosbox, so I still fire it up every now and then.

Now this, on the other hand is simply awe-inspiring. :D I've never even gotten close to doing it.

Great idea for a thread

I was waxing nostalgic the other day aboutBarbarian on my Amiga, after playing some Conan for PS3.

Descent was the first game on IBM compatible that really wowed me. It was also the first game I played against friends over dial-up.

Ultima Online in its early stages. One of the best MMORPGS ever! Seemed more personal back then compared to todays games. People had houses so you had neighbors and vendors. You could attack and steal from anyone. Kinda chaotic but REALLY fun.

Ok here's an amazing game and probably one of the most overlooked pc games of all time. To this day Myth II SoulBlighter has far and away one of the best storylines ever rivaling even the LOTR saga.
The graphics & physics engine still hold up enough to make it fun and the strategy element was groundbreaking. Probably one of the bloodiest games every as well. Every time you finish a battle the battlefield is soaked in blood to the point that Total War fans today would be envious.

I dont reminisce. I play all the old stuff I like.
Love Deus Ex, but I'm sure you guys can find plenty of videos on that by yourselves.

Same here. With the exception of a few Mac games, I can run pretty much everything I've ever played on my current rig, either natively or in an emulator.

As for Deus Ex videos, I was just looking at some of those a few weeks ago. Check these out: :D

I was really big into the old Sierra games for a while growing up.

Games like Colonel's Bequest, Police Quest, The Kings Quest series (this is II), and also Gold Rush. I grew up with those games essentially. Castle of Dr. Brain as well

As the graphics got better with age, I loved playing Sam and Max Hit the Road and Adventures of Willy Beamish. The frog's name in the game was Horny.

Those are just a few of the many computer games I played growing up. Nostalgia FTW!

Edit: To show how truly nerdy my friend and I were, after we beat Colonel's Bequest, we actually wrote Roberta Williams (Game designer) to thank her for the good game. She actually wrote us back. Was pretty cool. I think my friend still has the letter.

That game wasn't all that great, but I think anyone who was in elementary school around the late 80s / early 90s has played it. :D I liked Number Munchers better though.
