Same when Newegg/Microsoft had that $10 promotional code. All I had to do is change the number on the code and it would apply another $10 discount. I had some 44 DVD-R Fujifilms and someone else's local newegg package

We have pay levels. It is common knowledge what the range of salaries is for a pay level. It is also common knowledge what everyone's pay level is.
