I setup my 50" plasma by myself. It weighs about 163 lbs. unboxed, so about 175 lbs. in the box. Lifted it into my vehicle alone, got it out, took it into the basement, unboxed it, and put it on top of a 4.5' tall stand. You just have to be careful.

Oh, come on! Don't settle just because you can't or don't want to take delivery. Purchase the largest HDTV based upon your viewing distance, size of the room, placement in the room and budget.

I was able to get my 37" LCD HDTV in my car, out of my car, up to the second floor, and in the piece of furniture in my room, about 6 feet off the floor. It was harder bringing my 27" trinny downstairs...

My 61inch old school 3 gun Toshiba rear projection CRT weighs 288 pounds. I would have no problem taking it home and setting it up myself as long as I had a ramp to unload it from the truck. It has casters on it.

DLPs are MUCH lighter and easier to handle than big old school RPTVs, so it would probably be easier to move a 70+ inch DLP than my 61inch RPTV.
I've actually considered buying a new 1080p 50+ inch DLP from Fry's, but there's nothing "wrong" with the 61 (even though it isn't HD), so I have just kept it.

A 50" Samsung DLP weighs around 80 pounds.

Yep. When I was seriously considering a Samsung 50" DLP from Circuit City, they charged around $50 for delivery. I was able to negotiate free shipping but I didn't buy it.

A few months later I bought the Toshiba Cinema Series 50HMX96 from a local A/V dealer for a great price. Again I negotiated free delivery :)

My 50" Sammy DLP only weighs about 75 lbs. I handled it easily by myself.

I think I MAY be able to handle this guy by myself. But it is going to take a little bit of ingenuity on my part and it definitely isn't getting wall mounted. At close to 500 lbs, that thing is going on a stand.

I move my 32" Samsung CRT HDTV by myself (~200lbs), as well as my 30" Wega (~180lbs) with relative ease.

Did you also left it up to the TV stand by yourself? The world strongest men competition have a lift on atlas stone and it starts at a little over 200lb. Do you do any type of lifting in the gym or for work?

heh, well the TV has handles, and the TV stand is not nearly as high as the pedestals they put those stones on.

I'm also 6'6 and 280lbs. This helps quite a bit.

Give me a dolly and I'd be able to move and setup a TV of any reasonable size (say, up to 72").

But I live in a place that has elevator access, I wouldn't be able to go up stairs on my own, probably.

Circuit City Warehouse experience FTW.

I had help loading my 60" Philips HDTV (rear projection). But unloaded it, unpacked it (the hardest part) and set it up by myself. It wasn't too bad.

I don't know about the Ford Focus thing. I used my long-bed Chevy.
