I'm finally gaining the freshman 15 in my senior year:eek:

But what can you do? McDonald's sucks ass (for nutrition) and then I read in here the other day about Subway subs that are supposedily healthy have more fat than a Big Mac.

I've been eating a lot of those "weight watchers" frozen dinners, whole wheat sandwiches, cereal, salad, fruit, etc. Trying to cut out soft drinks now. Just trying to find some meals that will leave me full but healthy.

Gotta work out when I get time.

try oatmeal for breakfast. it's filling and cheap.

also, try eating smaller meals more often throughout the day...it should leave you less hungry throughout the day.

Subway isn't necessarily bad. Get one of the low fat ones with no cheese and a low-fat dressing like mustard or vinegarette.

also, cutting out the soft drinks was a good idea. buy one of those water bottles and keep drinking throughout the day.

totally agree on the oatmeal.

i find the flavored stuff in the packets too sweet, so i mix a packet or two with a good amount of regular oatmeal (which comes in the canister). that way you get a huge amount that tastes awesome and is dirt cheap!

Grilled chicken!

Every fast food place has grilled chicken. If one sandwich isn't enough, get 2.

Oatmeal is a biggie. Look for fresh fruit and vegetables that are cheap in your area too. Over here you can get apples, 2lbs for a dollar or cheaper

How do you not have time in college to work out?

Balance is key. Go for whole grains like oatmeal, whole wheat toast, whole grain cereal (like kashi go lean crunch), and egg for breakfast (alternate) and add a fruit like a banana or some berries, whatever fruit you like. You can even have some bacon (2 slices) but make sure most of the fat is drained. Drink some milk (soy milk if you like it) or some orange juice, and you've got a healthy breakfast (I like to drink green tea also).

For lunch, go with a sandwich (lean meats, real cheese, whole grain bread, some lettuce and tomato), and eat some carrots or a fruit/vegetable of your choice.

For dinner, I would go with either fish or chicken, baked or broiled with olive oil, some spinnach or broccoli (boiled not raw with a pinch of salt), and brown rice.

Drink plenty of water (6-8 glasses a day), and feel free to change or add to my basic menu, as there are a lot of healthy subsititutes. Stay away from foods with trans fats (hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated crap) or anything that has been processed or refined. Frying is bad in general, and olive oil (extra virgin) is healthiest and adds flavor. All veggies and fruits are good (vary in color) and help keep you feeling full. Work out at least every other day (30 mins cardiovascular, 15 mins weight training) and you'll lose 15 lbs in a year (I did freshman year) rather than gaining.

uhmm......he said, "healthy".

did you not look into any of my links in that thread? those ARE healthy (minus the bottom two)

ramen is fried noodles. sorry, but that's is not healthy no matter how you prepare them.

i'm asian, so i love ramen as much as the next guy. but you'll never convince me ramen is somehow healthy.

if you're willing to cook, use real pasta and/or noodles instead.
