Let's play Guess The Damage

So driving last night, I had to swerve to miss an object in the road, causing me to hit the island\median on the drivers's side rather forecefully. TPS light immediately came on - fortunately I was about 1\2 block from the dealer so I stowed it there overnight.

Externally, front\rear driver tires have huge tears in the sidewall and the front rim is pretty clearly broken. Didn't see any obvious wheel issues on the back, and the passenger side is of course unharmed.

Soooo.... what do you all think? just two new tires and wheels? Sure I blew my alignment to hell of course, but more worried about frame damage (seems unlikely). Called my insurance and they said to get an estimate from the shop before involving them, so that's where I'm at now.

2010 gencoupe. Got off the phone with the dealership, saying two busted rims\tires and possible suspension damage. Yay low-to-the-ground cars. But I guess that's why god made insurance

On the bright side, this dealer is on State Farm's expedited list so I don't have to do jack except pay the deductible once it's all said and done.

Pics would be great.

It could really be anything from $500 for new rims/tires to totaled.

These situations are why I prefer cars that have separate subframes attached to the unibody.

Initial estimate was rims/tires and suspension stuff, so over a grand. Didn't sound like it was even close to being totaled but guess we will see.

With a description like yours it could be anything from a minor bent wheel to the car being folded in half.

Without pics it's a really pointless post.

tony, that was pretty much what the eyeball estimate was - replaced front\rears rims and tires, new alignment and probably replacing the front shocks. Didn't give me any reason to think it would be totaled - I hit on the outside of the wheel, can't imagine I'd have fuxxored the frame doing that.

Edit - the funny thing is they tried to talk me into trading it in for an FRS once the repairs were done. Bout the same payment plus the toyotacare gimmick. They must really get top dollar for used cars right now.

you'd be surprised at how much of a beating cars can take.
I put my Spec Miata into a wall at 50+ and all that really bent was the front rim, an inner tie rod, front fender/bumper and the rear lower control arm bolt. With some help from a hammer, I was able to get the car fixed for the next session.

Lack of pics makes the game no fun. So, to save the thread, pics, with star trek levels of lens flare.
Rear ended while at a stop...guess the damage!

Whatever it is, add the cost of premature failure of wheel bearings and CV joints. Won't show up for a couple of years.

Just to make you paranoid.

Just got off the phone with the shop, their estimate...
(Just under) $9k.
Must have to harvest unicorn tears to fill the blinker fluid reservoir.

Jeebus... :whiste: sub frame damaged?

Congrats on saving the thread with pics though. Hope you and occupants (if there were any) are alright!

LOL, a couple years ago my Wife's 323ci got backed into in a parking lot. It looked like minor damage to the right front fender. Ended up costing about $3600 - had to replace the right front light assy, and a bunch of other crap underneath.
