isn't it even worse than dialup ping-wise? i remember reading up on sprintbb satellite highspeed service when they were still around, and pings were horrible.

either that, or you're work must be paying an arm and a leg for high speed satellite service.. those download/upload speeds look very nice btw.. :)

i'm showing around 95ms.

transfer rate and ping is a two different thing.
to play cs... one would only need about 3-4 kbps to do it.
but if you have high ping... it makes the game unplayable.

If it was a 1.3 server i'd be in there but i dont play 1.5 or 1.4

Me and my friends play together ( 4 of us) in an abandoned 1.3 server, if anyone is looking for one just msg me we get about 100 ping to it.

D@mn , this sounds like a wireless setup instead of a satellite . I am using one way DirecPC and usually ping at about 600 from/to anywhere.

I pinged you from work on a T1 and now I pinged you from home with my
Starband (satellite) internet service and this is the result. Both pings from New Mexico.
Sad isn't it?

It ain't satellite with those pings. The poster is sadly mistaken. It's about 400ms minimum to bounce off a satellite. Unless the poster has found a way to violate the speed of light.

this is the company most likely responsible for your internet

link

With pings like that, you most definitely DO NOT have satellite internet. 'nuff said.
