Let's make a Raid 0 for my laptop.. using two pcmcia cards..

My laptop is badass.. But I want to make it baddasserer (Dell Precision M4400)

It's a quad core 2.53ghz.. I run virtual machines for everything.. I end up having to run a couple at a time for development.

I have two free pcmcia slots and a built-in SD slot. I believe the SD slot runs off the pci bus and not a pseudo USB bus, but I am not certain.

Right now, it seems the fastest wait to make another disk is to get two pcmcia/compactflash adapters and put a 32gb fast compact flash in each adapter. Though, I haven't exactly found a pcmcia to compactflash adapter that advertises 'fast'.

Then, I could make them into dynamic ntfs volumes and run raid 0. Though, I'm sure I'd have to do some sort of registry hack to get around the 'no dynamic volumes for removeable media' limit.

Is there something faster for pcmcia?

sounds slow already. my personal belief (when I become president) is an SSD for every laptop! there's your upgrade. need storage? WHS or external 1tb

My personal belief (when I become president) is to outlaw all laptops and desktops that are capable of running faster than 1GHz.
My administration will harken back to the Windows 95, where people spent their time productively, instead of running benchmarks.

but... what will we do without high definition video??? 😕

You'd need to get a CF that can do at least 300x, which is over 40MB/s. Not really fast and expensive. I wouldn't suggest it unless your current drive is slower than that.

Why not go for the Intel SSD? It'll be much much faster and cheaper than two 32GB 300x CF cards and the CF adapters. 16GB 300x CF is probably $100...
