Another clear sign this Country has completlely lost it's way and priorities.

He was forced to sell his farm animals and equipment and to take a job in a dangerous Foriegn Country driving a truck.

While he of course deserves kudos for doing all he felt neccessary that it would take to better his family that does not diminish the fact that it is a Band Aid covering the symptoms of the problems at home and not a cure.

Family need sent Mississippi dairy farmer to Iraq

Hamill fought hard to keep the dairy business that had been in his family for three decades, working long, exhausting hours to pay off loans to the Merchants & Farmers Bank, friends said.

He sold his cows and milking equipment, and last September the 43-year-old volunteer firefighter signed on to drive a fuel truck for a year in Iraq for up to $120,000, tax free.

A fight against poverty

The rolling hills of Noxubee County are covered with rich, black soil, but its residents struggle with poverty. The median household income is only $22,000 and unemployment is around 11 percent.

County agronomy agent Dennis Reginelli said that since 1991 the number of dairy farms in Noxubee has dropped from more than 20 to just nine.

Hamill's father and uncle started the farm, dubbed the Grade A Dairy, on about 100 acres of rolling, green grass in an area of pine forests.

But with mounting family debts, Hamill sold the herd of fewer than 30 cows, said Noxubee County Supervisor Eddie Coleman.

Our Country is going down the toilet while we send Billions and Billions overseas in an effort to promote the American way of life is the best way of life for all others to live.

Soon we will have a new Mantra and it will be too late. America should never have to say "Charity begins at Home" but that is exactly what is happening but the few Greedy Bastages at the top are promoting it. The RBC is undoing the very fabric of the Country while padding their pockets with more and more money they can never spend in a lifetime while the rest of the Country goes broke.

This RBC Cancer is comprised of both the Dems and NeoCons. There is no opposing force to keep the corruption in check, it's an all out battle of who can be the most corrupt at the expense of the greater good of the Country for the greater good of the Rich Boys.

The only difference between this "Fall of the Roman EmpirePart II" and the original is that this one will be better documented than the original.

"Hamill fought hard to keep the dairy business that had been in his family for three decades, working long, exhausting hours to pay off loans to the Merchants & Farmers Bank, friends said."

We're sorry Mr. Bailey, It's not a Wonderful Life, we have failed you.

Don't twist this into somthing it is not, Dave; otherwise, you remove the emotional impact this story has on me and others, and this thread will head down the path most taken in ATP&N.

Dave- I don't see how this guy being kidnapped is a partisan issue at all. I too read the article earlier on CNN and was saddened. :(

I think his captors would have killed him already if they had intended on doing so. Perhaps they've taken a fancy to him?

I see no need to re-hash our internecine battles in this thread. Let's just pray this guy with two kids and a wife who had heart problems gets home where he can appreciate that struggle can occur on many different levels.

I am clearly laying the blame on all parties, not being "partisan". Ok, should add Middle Independents.

Everyone is failing.

Please look into the average education achievement level in Mississippi and try to figure out how much education this man had prior to selling the farm. Once you are done, please stop blaming me for underachievement of others.

Yep, "Our" farms and Factories are "Our" greatest "underachievement".

Witnessing the fall of the Roman Empire Part II by the Romans themselves all over again.
