"Let's Go Smoke Some Pot" - who was the original artist of this song? Morpheus has it by 311, Pennywise, Widespread Panic, Blink 182, Reel Big Fish and Adam Sandler! Jeez. WHO did the song? I know it's definitely not Pennywise, as it sounds nothing like them. Definitely not Adam Sandler and certainly not Blink 182. 311 and Reel Big Fish are possibilities, but i haven't heard songs like this by either band. I don't know about Widespread Panic though.

So, anybody have a clue?

The original band is Dash Rip Rock.

They are from New Orleans. Their old drummer started Cowboy Mouth. All are still good friends. They are nice guys, as well. A co-worker of mine has been friends of theirs for years. Used to book them at a club here during the late 80's a lot.

It's off their Gold Record disc.

You could trust me. I have the CD and have had it for a few years. When I DJ'ed a couple years back doing a jamband show, it was my theme song at the top of the show. Hippies always dug it and management always told me not to play it.

You should make it out to a show sometime. They are great. Their following has grown quite a bit over the last few years. I've seen them about 20 times dating back to '92.

If you go, make plans to get there early, like 2 or 3 hours before the show. Check out the lot scene and either meet some new friends, get some hippie food to help them get to the next show, or find the drugs of your choice. Really, just meeting new people and hanging out with lots of hippies that care more about being nice than getting ahead of everyone in life is fun. I've met plenty of friends from all over the country during my days out on the road following bands.

You can always get some good beers in the lot. Their fans are always selling Sierra or Newcastle or something good.
