Agreed. I think the A's did pretty well this year considering their young developing core of players and all of the injuries.

Now to watch this BoSox/Yankees/Indians race go down to the wire. Should be interesting.

Though I'll be rooting for the Sox IMO the team to beat in AL Playoffs will be the Angels.

Look on the bright side, they were not expected to do this good, they developed 4 great rookies this year. The pitching staff when healthy, was great. After this year they can free up some money, Hatteberg, Durazo, Dotel, Ricon will be gone. If we can get a slugger with the extra cash. We have a geat shot for years to come. Go A's!

Yup, next year should be something else.

Next year? Those players get payed much dinero to produce, SO WHY NOT PRODUCE NOW?

Its your duty as fans to riot and let the team know that losing, and choking at the end of the year is UNACCEPTABLE!

The amount of money they make is all relative. The A;s players of some of the lowest paid in the game. Their Cost per win is probably the best in the game. That said, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with Eric Chavez down the stretch here, he NEEDS to be the leader on the field. He wasnt. The A's couldnt afford him going cold. That why they need another (couple) hitter(s).

Swisher needs to figure out how to hit about .235 and Bobby Crosby is more fragile than my grandma.

I agree, Chavez is not the leader that he needs to be. The leaders are Kotsay, Hatteberg and Zito. Kendall tries to be, but when he was a cold fish, he should of stepped aside for Melhuse to take a shot.
Ellis really stepped up his game considering he was gone last season, and Scutaro is the best off the bench guy there is. He filled in great while Crosby was hurt. I think he just had a unlucky year. We may need Swisher to swing away, hit for power, we havent had a homerun hitter for years. We need someone to drive in the runs, Homers are better than doubles any day.
With a few tweaks, we could have the best bullpen in the league, Ricon needs to go, Yabu is out, keep Kennedy as releif and we should be good. Cruz needs to be traded, he has become a liability.

and while Im ranting....WTF is up with Juan Cruz. I live in Sacramento, and I went to a couple of games he pitched in here in AAA. He looked DOMINANT. He was insane. He gets to the bigs and he sucks ass. WTF?!?!?!?!!?

he will need to turn it around next season. We may need him as a starter. We also have Dan Meyer ( from the Huddy trade) who should be recovered by next season and ready to roll. The A's need to go out and get a big time slugging righty. Maybe we can get Manny.

hatteberg, Dotel, Durazo, Scutaro, Rincon, and probably Zito are all gone next season.
