Then I noticed you had a "d" in STANFORD. ;) :p :D

lol
Well, as long as it was only one d in Stanford it shouldn't be a problem...

But, I repeat, GENOME@HOME ended in April, so it's no point to include a link to this.

edit... Predictor@home seems to be missing... http://predictor.scripps.edu/

Looks good to me, other than you seem to be missing a few projects. Both Wolfsraider's & amdxborg's sites list 20+ projects we're active in.

Let's make sure we get them all. :)

So who did we miss so far?

Taking a little look on UD's cancer project, long time since last...

Anyway, I doubt anyone can get any useful info from the ud-pages without sifting through many layers...
So an idea to update the url to http://www.grid.org/home.htm ;)

BTW, didn't Intel stop sponsoring this project for a long time ago also... maybe mis-remembering here...

(fixing typign errro)

Let's see how this looks. I have a few questions about OGR as noted below.

___________________________________________________________________________

Welcome to the Team AnandTech Distributed Computing Forum! Here you will find plenty of great folks who would be glad to help you with the technical side of setting up and running distributed computing applications. You will find people who are more passionate about numbers than some mathematicians. You will find a great community who enjoy having [slightly] off topic discussions and helping each other immensely in real life.

So what is this ?distributed computing? thing anyway? Distributed computing describes a system in which client systems receive work involving calculation of some sort from a server, perform the computation, and then send the results back to the server. Thus, it is possible to employ thousands or millions of personal computers, surpassing the power of many supercomputers.

You might ask, why would I want to donate my spare CPU time and electricity to something like this? A quick overview of the variety of projects listed below may well convince you that the very small cost of electricity required to run a computer 24/7 (hint: turn off the monitor to save power) is well worth the difference you can make in your project?s area of scientific research.

Some projects look outward into space, to look for extraterrestrial life, pulsars, and other things. Others look around, to chart the development of life on the planet, or predict future weather patterns. Yet others look inward, to analyze the structure of atoms, molecules, or proteins. Each project can have a great impact on the development of science in its area, and you can help!

The following is a quick, ready reference to each project's home page where you can read all about them.

If you would be interested in running one of our TeAm Projects, please visit our TeAm AnandTech Websites:

The Reddeye Xpress hosted by "Wolfsraider"

TeAm AnandTech DC Projects hosted by "amdxborg"

Look over the various projects. Most are very easy to set up and run, don't require 24 hour/day operation (but once addicted, you may just do that), and have almost no effect on your everyday PC(s) operations.

If you have a question, please jump right in and ask ... or just say hello! You'll be glad you did, and we will, too! :)

Smoke that looks great,

As far as ogr 24 and 25 they share the same webpage as far as i can tell...ogr 24 is 5 rulers and ogr25 is 6 rulers wide

For OGR-25, we've settled on distributing so-called "6-stubs" from here

and

For OGR-24, there are approximately 6,000,000 "5-stubs" per pass from here

but to be honest that is the only difference i have found as all the downloads appear to be the same.

Well, unless there is a strong objection I'll just list OGR and the primary website.

I'll let this version sit for a while so everyone has a change to check it out and point out any spelling, grammar, or link errors before making it our "Welcome to the Distributed Computing Welcome Message".

:)

Clicking my way down the list...

eOn & Find-a-Drug... is this the same??? and the 2nd link isn't currently working...

Lifemapper is maybe currently offline, but the page coming up doesn't seem to have anything remotely to do with DC...

OGR leads to a non-existing page
OGR & RC5-72 is both run by distributed net & uses the same home-page and AFAIK client...

Check out the "message" now. I've made changes and corrections as you have mentioned ... I think. ;)

I am still puzzled by eOn. A google search found this: http://eon.unn.ac.uk/info.htm But I don't see any information on how to run it as a DC Project. Who is running this on the TeAm?

What's this Ubero all about. It looks like TAandy is the only person that has run it and he hasn't contacted them since 12/26/2001 3:00:18 PM! I believe this should be eliminated.

Uhm, lifemapper has got the find-a-drug-link...
the find-a-drug-link works now

OGR still points to a non-existing page. ;)

I'm constantly updating the last full "test page" ... I'm not updating the "test messages" posted earlier on in the thread. Note the edit time for each rendition.

It looks like OGR is the primary website and RC5-72 is just one of the sub-projects (current one). So the OGR link should be sufficient?

I've just written TAandy about Ubero. Wouldn't want to take it down without contacting the founder. ;)

OK, I think the "test message" is just about all correct. Let's do another re-read and link check.

I'll not publish it for at least a day or two. ;)

Well, I didn't look too closely on the "last edited", so most likely my messiage landed then some of the page was partially edited...

BTW, it can't be earlier in this thread, if the forum-clock isn't totally screwed up...
