The morality, legitimacy of the history of the monarch, should it be there? Is it ethical / moral? Why does America not have one? Is it better or worse without it.

Use this thread to discuss that.

Monarchies are barbaric, to elevate one particular family and worship them as early humans worshipped the sun as a god is just wrong.

Put it this way, if you were forming a new country from scratch, and could use everything we have learned from past failed and successful states, would you institute a monarchy? Of course not. Back in the day, they had a purpose but it is an antiquated notion today.

That said, I can understand why some countries maintain their monarchies, if no other reason as living museums and tradition.

Exactly, they work perfectly as living museums and ambassadors / heads of charities.

But would you agree with my other point? That if you were to start a country from scratch, you would not institute a monarchy? Or does your new hate speech laws preclude you from having that opinion? :p

Living museums? They don't allow the average person to see them, so what's the point of a living museum?

Moreover, racist and discriminatory traditions are not worth keeping.

Moreover, these royals could be heads of charities without an official capacity from the government. Let them survive on their own.

Do we get to tell them about the worshiping and human sacrifice bit or do we still have to keep that bit quiet?

SSSHHHHH! Damn it man, now the mongoose knows.

Ha, no I probably wouldn't, the value of the monarchy is in their history, without that there's no real point. I do love the palaces, the ancient castles, homes and such that are all there and kept nicely because of the monarchy's existence.

Actually, you could enjoy those a lot more if the monarchy was removed and these places were opened up to the public. They would still be maintained quite nicely, look at France. And they would generate a lot of tourist revenue.

Yep, on behalf of the monarchy we roam the streets executing minorities, using ritual disembowelment we wear their faces on ours and sign "God save the Queen" we also like to make sure that not only are the royal family only born white, but the purest white, in the event that a child of the royal family is born slightly tanned we use giant gold cheese graters to remove the skin and bleach them from head to toe. That's just standard practice obviously.

Maybe as a US citizen I might argue a true monarchy is just another name for dictator.

But when the current form of the British monarchy is more as a ceremonial and figure head role, I feel its time, for me as US citizen to shut up, because its a 100% solely a British decision.

I think that a citizen of any country should speak up against discrimination in any country. The UK monarchy is very discriminatory. It may very well take the actions of non-UK citizens to force the UK to abandon its discriminatory tradition.

I'd rather not spend any sort of fucking money for someone to live the lavish life style. I do not wish to pay for the hedonism of others, your dumbass has been indoctrinated since birth into being ok with it though so you get a slide. This is why I call you serfs.

I dropped £1 last week, that was more than I spent on the monarchy last year, so I'm OK with it.

They deserve to be treated like royalty because they are royalty, and I am one of their subjects, fine with that.
