Fixed.

Where did they spend the majority of their lives in the UK?

I'm not sure. It's a difficult subject to talk to them about it. PTSD and all of that.

True enough, which is why I went with Wiktionary, a community dictionary that tends to represent the majorities accepted usage of a word.

No, it represents the majority of users of Wiktionary who edit pages and stumble upon that definition.

It does according to wiktionary.

Maybe I should edit it?

I'm not eligible to become head of state, I'm not a royal I'm a commoner, I wouldn't want to be a royal, nor would most people I know, why would I want a life of subjugation and obligation imposed on me? I'd rather be free to do as I wish.

No one is being subjugated by the royal family, they are there for us, we keep them there as it is convenient that is what you don't understand, we have the power.

Are you a white male?

Be honest, how long would you put up with him for?

That is a better explanation. If my kid could only (and constantly) talk about how much they hated Ron Paul and Monarchies I might decide to be "somewhere in the UK" too.

I'm not worked up about it. I'm merely criticizing it. Are you worked up for defending it? I'm amused and slightly shocked that people can be defending such a practice in a supposedly modern society, especially when countries like Nepal can modernize.

The UK has so much potential. Monarchy is one of the things that is holding it back. The world is just watching in awe that such barbarism is still around.

The removal of the monarchy is probably one of the easiest things that could be done, so I think it's very reasonable if it's in someone's top 10.

There really is no need to have such a barbaric tradition.

No way what happened?

I'm not sure. PTSD!

I am, but I couldn't marry a royal as I am neither a duke or lord nor a royal myself.

I suspect that you feel some kinship to them and that you voluntarily subjugate yourself to their will because you view them as some sort of patriarch of your demographic. However, others don't, and refuse allegiance to them merely because of their bloodline.

Yes. There are already many examples of other countries modernizing. They can adopt similar procedures and outcomes.

Actually I don't I see them as ceremonial figureheads that draw in crowds of tourists. Some people are luckily with the family they are born into(like bill gates' children), some (like the royal family) are unlucky.

Yes, you can marry a royal. You don't need to be another royal.

Oh! Cool, then so can a black person or indeed any other race.

Probably not, racism is pretty institutionalized there now.

It would be best if there was no royal family and no institutional discrimination.

I wouldn't want to support a discriminatory institution, but obviously some people feel more of a connection to racism and sexism than others.

Sorry, but tourists can't purchase tickets to dunk the royals into a water tank.

Abolish the monarchy and then people won't be born into a supposedly unlucky situation (LOL at calling being pampered and given millions by the government as unlucky).

I'd love to see a black monarch in the UK. It would be a huge advancement against white supremacy.

I am certain that would lead to people in the UK finally calling for an end to the monarchy. It would overwhelming. It would be good to use their racism to end a racist institution.

You have still not explained how it's an intrinsically racist institution.

You're aware that the rules of succession are in the process of being changed?

I'm aware of legislation, but it hasn't happened yet and should have happened a long time ago. So, as I'm sure that you're aware, it's discriminating based on gender as of now.

No its not, there aren't any female first borns who are being discriminated against. Unless you have some super secret inside knowledge you'd like to share.
