carving pipestone
Swapping parts in my computer (just for fun)
shooting
perfecting my car survival kit
volunteer with VFW (usually doing make-busy work for vets in hospice care)
volunteer with Izaak Walton (normally road clean up but sometimes tending to the small forested area we own)
video games
Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, sometimes D&D (but not much for the past 4 years or so.)
Photography (in between cameras right now)
Collecting junk pocket knives

I am unemployed and school has been out for a month and a half, bored like you would not believe. Would rather be in school full time and use a little free time to do stuff.

Come on over. Let's spoon

I didn't partake in the midlife, "I have to have a manley motorcycle or penis car crisis" that some many of my friends went through so I just;

Build and fly RC Sailplanes
Sometimes Video Games
Tinker with electronics

Games: Xbox - whatever my brother and/or kids are playing; Ingress
Playing Sports: Rugby; Softball
Watching Sports: Football; Baseball; College Basketball; Rugby
City exploration: Finding new restaurants, cocktail bars, brewpubs
Live Music: Prefer festivals and small venues to arena shows

Are you, by any chance, a New Zealander? I remember when I lived there for a bit and all I did was play rugby or watch the All Blacks 🙂

Doesn't mean that I'm an expert in any of these, I just enjoy them.

Fishing
Running
Drawing
Guitar
Volleyball
Dodgeball
Kickball

I collect certain Transformer toys. This one was my most recent purchase

I also enjoy retro gaming. I built this small arcade cabinet myself.

I have a functioning Congo Bongo cabinet I'm thinking about gutting to make a mame rig. Would that be stupid?

Nope. I live in the bay area and have lived on the west coast my whole life. Started playing because my kids wanted to play and I felt I should learn the sport. Keeps me fit!

Gaming's kind of dying off for me. Had to dump it for two years during full-time job + part-time graduate school + occasional B-job boss using me like his bitch, never really got back into it -- I don't count 700 hours in Diablo 3, that was for making money.

Lately, Ikea furniture, expensive clothes that I don't bother buying, expensive home products, and music.

Slowly getting into photography or stalking. Think I'm getting an SX50 for the x50 to x200 zoom... Can't figure out if it's the stalker or photographer in me trying to come out.

Yeah, it's a very physical sport. Make sure you teach them about safety, though. Have seen some bad injuries on some of my mates

I play rugby with Seattle. We lost the IV's final to SFGG by just a couple of points. We just took the national 7s championship, though. I don't play on the 1st squad, however, so I can't take credit for those successes, myself.

Computers

Collecting pilot wings. I must have over 50 now from all kinds of airlines.

Radios and scanners. For the non techy, police scanners.

PC gaming

I used to tinker with electronics and am handy with a soldering iron

Electronics is something I've been wanting to get into. I have played with premade embeded boards like the arduino and some relay controller that has a serial interface, but that's fairly primitive and does not require much knowledge of the actual electronics involved. In the meantime I've been desoldering resistors and stuff off any circuit board before it gets thrown out, so I at least have a stock to play with.

old UPSes give pretty nice parts.

I use to desolder a lot of stuff and store the parts in tackle boxes. The problem with resistors for me is that I'm color blind so I have to use a multimeter to measure the resistance.

My hobby time is pretty limited but when I get the chance I like to hit the range for some lead therapy.

Obligatory pic....

DPMS model A-15 BULL 20 W/ bushnell luminated 4 x 16 x 40 wide angle scope.

Just realized that collecting moderate to high-res old pictures of warships and posting some on my blog probably counts as a hobby. :colbert:

A lot of people convert such cabs into Mame or other specific ones. Aside from destroying a very small piece of gaming history, I'd do it if I were you. Mame cabs are epic and nothing beats playing them like they were designed to be played. Most expensive piece for you will probably be the side art. Building a cab from scratch is very expensive.

Current hobbies are.......

occasional mechanic work on random vehicles
music,classic rock

dead hobbies include.....
