I?ll spare you the details, but it involves the words testicle, bad hop, tearing and internal bleeding. Thankfully, surgery is not needed, and Beltre should be able to resume playing when he?s eligible to return Aug. 28. Let this be a lesson to all you kids out there; no matter how uncomfortable wearing a cup is, it pales in comparison to this injury. It?s like the difference between a pinch and an axe wound.

Third baseman Adrian Beltre is not recovering as quickly as first expected from a testicle injury after being hit by a ground ball.
He is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday, but manager Don Wakamatsu said that's highly unlikely.
"I think the swelling's going down a little slower than we thought," Wakamatsu said. "It's improving, but slowly."
