Let's admit it Matrix fanboys, the Trilogy sucked.

They had an opportunity to make something great and they blew it.

Yes, but being the open ended movie(I) that it was, it would be almost impossible to keep ANY sequel (II or III) in the same "open" perspective of the first. You can't just have 2 or 3 movies back to back that are open ended. You have to pick a path to follow, and IMO they followed the wrong one.

Since you are a genious, how would you have made the movie(s)?

whoa he didn't say he was a genius... he's basically said what you said. They had an opportunity to make something great and they blew, ie they picked the wrong plot line to follow.

I'm still sticking to the fact that, as a whole, the trilogy sucked. The individual movies were great. If you took M1, M2, M3, as stand alone action/sci-fi films they stand up pretty well to the other crappy action/sci-fi films that hollywood churns out. But take it as a whole story and you get a weak trilogy.

Matrix 1 was one of the best movies ever.

Reloaded was ok, but nowhere near the original. But then Revolutions came and made Reloaded utterly worthless. No I'm just going to keep watching the first one until I forget that the sequels were ever made.

The first one was amazing. The second was sh!t. The third one was better in comparison to number 2, which wasn't that hard to pull off.
Seriously? You are the first person I know that liked Revolutions over Reloaded.

What did you dislike about #2 so much?

I guess it was bad because it didn't have an hour and a half of mechwarriors having target practice against robotic flying squids.

The trilogy was ok, but the 2 sequels didn't come close to equalling the promise of the Matrix.

I still enjoyed them just for the special effects and fight scenes.

I haven't seen Revolutions yet, so I can't comment on the Trilogy. Matrix is simply awesome, it's a real emotional rollercoaster as Neo's true nature is being discovered and the highs and lows associated with it.

Reloaded was quite different, what made the Matrix so good is no longer necessary for it, yet it does have a few surprises that pushes the story along. By the end of it much of what was assumed to be true from the Matrix turns out to be false. A very intriguing twist indeed. It was certainly more Action orientated than the Matrix was and it really wouldn't make a lot of sense without the groundwork laid by the Matrix. The first time I watched it I wasn't too impressed, it certainly didn't have he same impact as the Matrix, but after seeing it again and putting it into perspective I found it much more enjoyable. It really would have been impossible for it to be as great as the Matrix was.

Hopefully Revolutions comes out on DVD soon.

Part 1 captured something amazing as you watched 1 person take on beings that were portrayed as ultimately unbeatable. It was awesome watching the movie unfold because they really made the agents look scary and invincible. Part 2 brought it to the next level with obsurdity (I could point out 5 scenes that just seemed odd, rave obviously being number 1). Part 3 I never bothered watching.

I've seen a lot of complaints from people who just didn't like how things were resolved. They didn't have specific complaints about the storytelling, dialogue (which itself is fodder for snide commentary), action or anything but how the story played out. Specifically, they had their own ideas of how things should work out (such as the Matrix-in-a-Matrix) and when these things didn't come to fruition they became horribly disappointed and jaded.

I'm not saying that everyone who hated the movie is like that -- some of them have valid complaints -- but many of the detractors, especially on the Matrix fan boards, have been citing the fact that events didn't work out how they wanted.

The Wachowski brothers had a view of all three films, and how they wanted to tell the story. They could have gone in various depths and realities and theories and explain a lot of the questions they presented. But the whole point of their story telling is to tell a story to a thinking audience, which inherently means they will not explain every detail and tie every loose end. When it comes down to it, it was a great trilogy.

I loved the Matrix trilogy, but you have to be honest: LOTR was a far superior......

I can agree with that. LOTR is the best Trilogy(multi-part) movie ever!

Exactly. I saw Reloaded in the theater and was sorely disappointed to the point of not even considering paying to see Revolutions in the theater and putting up with the crap these days that accompanies that trip.

Renting it, though, is a good option.

IMO, all three movies were visually amazing. I have always had trouble with the story line. Until I had came to the conclusion that the Matrix trilogy is live action anime film. Lots of butt kicking, super human acts, with a mythical theme thrown in.

The story weakens as it's sequeled?? I'll wait till #3 shows up in the 8.99 bin at walmart...

Matrix 1 was good, 2 was bad, 3 was ok

as far as LOTR, well it was ok. the movies were wayyy too long and the story line is played out. other than the special effects there is nothing great about LOTR

the original SW trilogy owns these two hands down. there will never be another like the original SW.

I enjoyed it, but as a "trilogy", no. You're right on that one, because I don't think it was a trilogy at all. Reloaded and Revolutions where the same movie, but just cut in half. No movie in a trilogy should end in "To be concluded" . But it should end with questions unanswered. Reloaded, did not to that. It ended like a WB sitcom.

That was the only thing I really disliked about The Matrix.

The first one was still the best of course. Because it drew me into a world my imagination would of never thought of in any dream. Plus the flow of the movie was flawless and it built a lot of anticipation between fight scenes.
