Let the Right On In -- whhattt?

The vampire was a dude?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Right_One_In_(film)#Screenplay

The novel presents Eli as an androgynous boy, castrated centuries before by a sadistic vampire nobleman. The film handles the issue of Eli's gender more ambiguously: a brief scene in which Eli changes into a dress offers a glimpse of a suggestive scar but no explicit elaboration.[11] When Oskar asks Eli to be his girlfriend, Eli tries to tell Oskar "I'm not a girl".

Totally went over my head. I was wondering what the superfluous pedo bush shot was for.

that's news to me. but I don't even remember the crotch shot that you and someone else mentioned recently

I remembered seeing it, but not really knowing what it was meant to signify. I just kind of passed it off as some weird foreign thing. 😛

i remember the crotch shot being vague enough to suggest androgeny; though I thought it was msotly because the filmmakers wouldn't want to be accused of child porn.

but I remember this being discussed before, and looking back, it's totally there for interpretation.

Thanks a lot for the spoiler tags.

Darth Vader is Luke's father, Rosebud is a sled, and Kevin Spacey is Keyser Söze.

2008 dude. Statute of limitations has to apply. Besides, it's not even a spoiler just a part of the subtext. I doubt 4 of every 5 people who saw the film noticed.

let the right one in is the foreign version, the english version i think is called "let me in" both are available on netflix streaming

i took "i'm not a girl" as her saying "i'm an old woman and because i became a vampire as a girl, i look like a girl."

the movie was good, but definitely not what i wanted. i wanted something scary... this movie was some swedish vampire love story.

i watched both of them, but in the wrong order, i recommend both

i just thought she meant she was a vampire (old, not young) vs. a 'normal girl'

i took "i'm not a girl" as her saying "i'm an old woman and because i became a vampire as a girl, i look like a girl."

Same. I did think for a bit that she could have meant she was a boy, but there was nothing else to support that and I hadn't read the book.
