top 3 WR vs backup RB....a little different situation I'd say.

correct me if i am wrong(i probably am) but i thought i read that morris was the teams leading rusher this season? so i thought it was a bigger blow to the team. but if he was just the backup then its not as bad of problem like i thought.

The injury bug hasn't exactly been kind to the Pats in prior years, especially against Indy. Injuries are a part of the game - championship teams overcome them.

Maroney was injured for awhile, hence Morris' boost in stats.

This game ended up almost exactly the way I thought it would & while I agree it could have gone either way, I don't want to hear any excuses from Colts fans ... you got beaten by a slightly better all-around team period.

Also I doubt it would have been this close if the game had been outdoors in Foxboro.

A key [part of the Pats running game was missing because Morris was out. If he had been able to play they would have been able to run the ball more effectively against the Colts.

Anyway. the Colts are great and the Pats were slightly better. They are by far heads and shoulders above any othe AFC team and even further ahead of the better teams in the lesser NFC.

Certainly...I'm just saying the impact of losing Morris is less than the impact of losing Harrison. And for the most part, I agree with your assessment.

ok. that makes sense then. thanks.

Who the hell whines about injuries? In the 2004 playoffs, the Patriots had their two starting corners out against the colts and everyone was predicting Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison would go roughshod all over the Patriots, but the Patriots shut them and Manning down 20-3. Unless it's Tom/Peyton being out, injuries are just a laughable excuse.

Tough game. Colts had the Pats* on the ropes, but the offense just fizzled and the Pats* D pressured Manning into playing stupid. Colts left a lot of points on the field, FGs or nothing when they should've gotten TDs. Pats* D hung in there and exploited bad O-line protection and stupid play calling, and the Colts D just wore out at the end. The re-match, with everyone healthy, but in Foxborough, will be interesting.

I don't see much whining going on..then again I'm not reading most of the replies. But it sounds to me like people are saying don't be so sure the Patriots will definitely win in a playoff rematch, because this game was close, even with guys like Harrison injured.

If any Patriot fan is sitting thinking the SB is in hand, they're either taking a lot of drugs or are really, really stupid. The Colts are a scary team. They match up well against the Patriots. Even teams like the Steelers should scare the Patriots a bit. If anything, this game showed the weaknesses of the "invincible" Patriots.

Well, at least they won so it doesn't look like sour grapes.

i heard stuf about that a few years ago. i hope there is an investigation. i dont know if they are cheating or not, but i think it would look very bad for the league not to investigate that. it know it would look bad if they were cheating but just ignoreing it is much worse i think. It would be sad if they are cheating though, both the patriots and the colts are so good they should not need to cheat, which makes this all the worse in my opinion.

i agree. as much as i dislike payton manning and the colts you know that the game could go either way based on just a play or 2. both teams are very very good and to say that its gauranteed that the patriots are going to win is being very short sighted.

I'm quite sure the Patriots are quivering in fear of the all-mighty Steelers.

that sure seemed to be investigated really quickly. that seems a little bit fishy to me especially considering there have been previous times where there have been accusations of this same thing. at the same time i dont really care. they are good whether its on the road or at home. i dont think this is helping them that much even if they are going it.

Dude, just stop it. There were no strange audio clipping noises in the Indy or NE radio broadcasts, and further I was there, and if anything I felt it should've been louder on some of the Pats* possessions. As much as I'm sure you'd love for the Colts to join the Pats* as confirmed cheaters, it's not going to happen. And the conspiracy theory stuff just makes you look nutty. So what, the Colts and the NFL conspired to ruin a huge moneymaking NE undefeated season by piping in crowd noise, but then made the Colts lose so no one was too suspicious? Please.

I agree that massive conspiracies are not at play here, but weren't the Colts caught piping crowd noise through the PA system last season? Plus, isn't it a good thing that it was investigated? Honestly, it did sound suspicious. I'm glad there was no foul-play involved, but I'm also glad that it was brought to league attention.

I'm more concerned about the poor officiating in the game than with any shenanigans pulled by either team.
