I really have to question why that is thread crapping. The title of the thread is "Let me know what you think". So are we only suppose to offer opinions that are "nice". Sometimes the role of devil's advocate is very helpful and useful.

Sorry if I am thread crapping ;)

for only $13 more you can get the abit nv7-133r which has onboard lan, good sound, raid, usb2.0 and isnt via (for those who care). the nforce 415d i've found to be very stable and fast.
also, do what zzzz says, the xp1600 isnt much money and it's way better.
imho the ~20 dollars more for a nv7-133r and xp1600 is really a better way to go, much more bang for only a little more $.

good luck

No thread crap..........the guy asked for opinions and he gave his............right, wrong, or inbetween, that's his opinion!:)

What you have chosen looks OK, I'm not a big fan of Via with my AMD's either, but, that's up to you.......there's plenty to choose from these days and since you say money is an issue, perhaps look into SiS offerings. What else are you going to be putting in it and what will the system be used for mainly??? Can make a big difference.............Good Luck!:)

I agree, but this guy Mr Grim, has posted the same thing "Via = POS" in two threads already today. See here If he wants to do something besides just posting an inflammatory statement, (along the lines of Amd = suck or Intel = Waste of money) like explain what is wrong with via, or recommend another chipset then I have no problem with the post. Otherwise, he is just spouting crap, ie crapping. :)

I am glad you cleared that up. I was oblivious to the fact that such statements had been made previously as I don't have the time to read all posts and/or threads. I would like to know why Mr Grim thinks it sucks though. Feel free to comment Mr Grimm or are you just trying to increase post count??????
