Lesson Number One: Appartment Complex Covered Parking --learning the hard way ((NOW WITH PICS!!))

I came home tonight to find a blue 2002 Cavalier parked in my roommate's paid-for, numbered, covered parking spot. We all have stickers on our cars that say what parking spot belongs to us. This car has no sticker at all, and is parked very sloppy, on top of it all. I have just enough room to slide into my paid-for, numbered, covered parking spot to the left of it without crossing the line to the left where my very kind neighbor is parked. Just above the car is posted a sign regarding 24-hour towing with the name of the towing company and a warning not to park in the numbered spots unless you're the one who owns it or have permission to.

My roommate isn't home, but tonight is one of his nights off work and he's probably going to be back later tonight to find his parking spot taken.

Out comes my cell phone and a call is made to the number posted on the big towing company sign right above the car. They're sending a truck and will have the space cleared in approximately 20 minutes.

🙂

Ahh... I feel better now.

They used to call me the tow nazi at my old place.

If you parked in my spot it meant I had to drive way up some damn hill and find a parking spot and then walk to my house, so I had the tow guys on speed dial on my cell.

Don't like to tow people but if your that retarded then you deserve it.

When I tried to get a car towed im my spot they said I had to be the manager of the lot or some cr@p like that.

Um... I posted this message, then ran back out to take pics and the car was GONE. I've been talking with Chels since then, so it doesn't seem like it's very fast. But these guys were in and out of here within 7 minutes. And with the work that I've done with Acme Towing here in Hillsboro, the truck had to be REALLY close. They were here and gone like lightning!!!

Right. You most likely didn't have stickers or some other way of proving that you owned the spot, so the manager would have to verify ownership and call on your behalf. That's how it used to be here. But they got so many complaints that now they have stickers for the cars and the towing company doesn't need a reason. 😀

Are you sure the guy who parked in your roommate's spot didn't just park there for a few minutes and leave? Usually the ppl who steal spots don't stay for that long.

I hope it was towed. I have some loud as hell neighbors that always wake me up with a pool party and lound music (notice...I'm awake when I should be asleep...asshats). I'm going to see if I can't get the towing company to come out tomorrow night and remove their vehicles. Is it petty? Yes probably, but I'll get some satisfaction out of it.

When I got there, I listened for ticking sounds from a cooling engine and didn't hear any. The hood was freezing cold as well. This guy was there to stay.

30 seconds or 30 days, IT'S A RESERVED SPOT. That car shouldn't have been there PERIOD.

When I'm faced with the same situation, and know I'll be right back down, I double park and NOT IN SOMEONE'S spot, with my hazard flashers on. THis is a universal sign for "I'll be right back."

Honestly I was always scared to do that. I figure that person who got towed is going to be pissed and come back to key the card of the person who actually owns it. I know, weird logic but people are weird. Even tho that person knows they were in the wrong that doesn't mean they won't be pissed and retaliate. This has happened to me once and I left a note that if that car ever does it again they will be towed.

I was wondering the same thing. Do the parking spot numbers correspond to the apartment numbers?
