Are there any brands of soda that are less sugary? The typical Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc are too sweet to me

Most ginger ale seems less sweet than the colas. Sometimes I like to forgo sugar altogether and drink straight club soda.

Generally commercial sodas are super-sweet, that's why people buy them. Have you considered trying to make your own?

I have considered it but didn't think it was very cost efficient. I'll look into it again

You can buy flavored syrups and mix them into carbonated water. I used to do this with great results. You have total control of the sweetness.

Some people think sodas that do not use HFCS taste less sweet although I would imagine they have about the same amount of calories.

Although I have never tried it, you could try experimenting with mixing club soda with regular soda to water it down a bit.

I purchased a soda stream to carbonate a mixture of fresh fruit juice and water which has worked out pretty well for me.

Club soda man, it is the bomb. All the fizzy goodness of regular soda with all the healthiness off water!

And if you want to mix it up you can add it to anything for a 'lil taste.

Run strenuously for half an hour. You will enjoy the immense sweetness of that soda again.

Some fountain soda machines have a nozzle that dispenses pure soda. I usually mix half and half pure soda and whatever brand I feel like drinking.

a lot of people seem to think that its not as good as the regular stuff but its the opposite to me

regular soda is strong and offensive and diet just tastes right

Start drinking diet soda. I started doing this myself about a year ago and now I prefer diet over regular. If you're not ready for that obvious "diet taste", try Coke Zero or Pepsi Max.

I prefer seltzer.

But seriously, I rarely drink soda but when I do it is way too fucking sweet

Have you tried flavored seltzer? You're pretty much limited to fruit flavors, but I love the stuff. I like Gerolsteiner for plain, Perrier Grapefruit is good, and there's a bunch of cheaper American brands for orange, lemon, and lime. Store/discount brands are very good if you want to save money.

This stuff is awesome - Snow Soda:

Not as fizzy as regular soda either. They sell it at my local Stop & Shop next to the margarita mixes. Only downside is that they just have 3 flavors right now - lemon-lime (Sprite, although it's more of a Sierra Mist), cola (Coke), and cranberry pomraz (fruity-flavored drink, this is probably my favorite actually).
