Leopard DVD compatibility

Hi all.
Maybe this is a silly question, but I can't seem to find a concrete answer anywhere (or as far as I've looked). Anyways: Being dual-layer, is a retail Leopard install DVD compatible with a PowerBook G4 aluminum's SuperDrive? Or is the SL/DL difference only applicable when one is burning DVDs? (eg, read DL but can't write DL?)

If if can play a standard movie DVD, then it can read DL DVD (DVD9). I've never heard of a DVD player that was unable to play a Hollywood movie.

More to the point, there is a compatibility list for Leopard:

its one of those questions that at this point in time there is no reason to really know. And no way to really find out.

No reason to know because mostly the people that dont know, dont know what DL is anyways. So they would never question it.

I just put a DL disk into the 12" G4 PowerBook sitting on my desk and reinstalled Leopard with it, hows that for some confirmation?

It shouldn't be a problem. The hardest part, finding a new Leopard install dvd, you have already done. I'm still running Tiger, so if you want to point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged.

You could almost certainly find it on Amazon.

Now, if for any reason your drive won't read it, you can create a .DMG of the disk on another Mac (if you have one) and then Restore that image to another partition on your PowerBook's hard drive. I have done that in the past as well. Installs a little quicker, and you don't have to worry about scratched disks.
