he's been doing some crazy airtime, he's on the air hours a day or something, he was bound to crack sooner or later.

I didn't get to see TSS until ZDTV turned into TechTV. I really did like Patrick Norton with Leo but I never saw it when he was with Kate. I used to watch a lot of other shows on that network like Extended Play, Silicon Spin, and that tech news show that had Erica Hill on it. I think cnet buying the network did shake some stuff up, but the G4 merger just destroyed what TechTV was.
 
Well that's "losing it" for Leo Laporte, but for most people that's considered a pretty regular response. 😛

Watching ZDTV back in the early days was a lot of fun, it's a shame it was completely ruined.

I loved the show but when the show was good, the commercials were repetitive and annoying, when the show started to suck, the commericals got better and more diverse. Can't win.. 🙁

Laporte has made his policy about reviews public too many times for Arrington to miss.

Even so, let's say Mike was oblivious and was just trying to play "gotcha". How is that better?

Fuck this guy. There are plenty of other snarky tech blogs around.
 
I used to love watching TechTV and ZDTV back in the day when I worked at a mom and pop computer store. We'd watch that channel all day long in the shop.
 
Got Leo and Kate's autographs several years back. Bother genuinely good people in a market where being young and hip is more important than being PC smart (always thought Adam Sessler was a crack baby).
Anyone who has been working with PCs back in the day that they had DIP switches on hardware and remembers when VLB was the hot interface can appreciate Leo's calming demeanor in a sea of trolling freaks.

The old dude is a carry over from the old ZDNETTV and "tech tv" cable show days who hit it off in the podcast scene due to name recognition amoung other things. he's always come off as a really nice guy and it's nice to hear him curse for a change😀


the other dude is, from what a hear, one of many assholes that run what is in many circles considered a rather elitist tech blog

Same here. I was out of town on a trip once. I turned on the TV in the hotel room and TSS was on. When I got back home I switched providers so I could get TSS.
 
wow what a dickmove by arrington. while yes full disclosure is good how he went about it was wrong. then the "what are you going to do about it" remark was out of line.

i enjoy leo's show when i remember its on.

TSS was such an awesome show. I was stoked to find out my cable provider had TechTV after I discovered the show/network somewhere else. And then less than a year later, G4 merged with TechTV and it went to shit. It was still pretty good when they first changed focus/direction of the show, but it died once Leo left and I haven't really watched it's replacement Attack of the Show ever since then, although I did watch it from time to time when Kevin Rose, Sarah Lane and some of the other folks from TSS were on the show. About the only good thing to watch AOTS these days is to watch Olivia Munn. Although the show is now really only a mix of Spike and generic G4-ness, no techtv influence to speak of.
 
The Twit and Revision3 networks have done a really good job of rebuilding what we loved about TechTV. It might not be perfect, but its still pretty impressive.
 
That's how the business works.. you get free stuff to review. I'm surprised they make him give it back. I used to be a reviewer in the video game market and they send you free shit nonstop even if you do nothing but write bad reviews (and for some companies I did). I never once got any sort of pressure to change my reviews.
 
Arrington is a dick, pure & simple. I never heard of this clown before now, and god willing I never will again.
 
If you don't know who Leo is, you live under a rock😛

It is really strange to hear Leo swear like that🙂 Anyways, good for him...Leo is the man :thumbsup:
