This definitely looks like something I want to look into further. As nice as the N7 is, my GTab 8.9 gets more use because of its larger screen. I really like the 8-9in size.

The single review right now notes that its not an IPS screen though. :/

The specs say that the screen is actually 9", so I wonder if the 'locked' screen shown in the screenshots just doesn't use the whole screen. It seems odd that they'd put such a large border around the actual screen the way it is shown in those pictures.

That's a disturbing trend. Wouldn't buy a tablet without one when they charge $50/8gb and a 32gb microsd class 10 card is sub $20.

I agree. If Windows 8 RT can run on an HP Touchpad, I'll be so upset. I sold mine because I thought it was pointless to have it, but if Windows 8 could have worked on that, well.. That's just upsetting.

Also, this says differently about that microSD slot.

Bezel looks fine to me, about the same as the N7, iPad 2&3, GTabs, etc. An sd card slot would be a major boon though.

I have no intentional buying a W8 device myself, too much negative press around it with a crappy UI. Its MS trying to stay relevant in markets that are rapidly leaving them behind.

Still confused by all the people that bought HP TouchPads too. The thing is heavy, thick, larger bezel, and increasingly underpowered. And has no warranty support from HP any more. Should be sold off as cheap e-readers.

Bezel is bigger than the N7, it looks like. But it's not ginormous.

I was tempted about the TouchPad when it went on firesale, but the idea of just sitting and waiting, hoping someone would release a good Android port for it, just didn't sit right with me.

As for the Surface, I'm totally uninterested now. The ARM version has the same drawbacks as Android and iOS, and the x86 version has the same form factor drawbacks as tablets in general. And the jury is still out on Windows 8. Judging by some of the reviews, it's looking more and more like a tablet skin on Windows 7, with weird usability issues if you're not on a tablet.

I had a Touchpad, while it had good points the sheer size & weight of the thing was a turn off, I got rid of it quickly.

Even at the fire sale price, unless you were willing to mod or develop for it, it wasn't a good deal.

I just want a Windows 8 tablet already. I can't help it. Android is so very appealing to me, but functionality wise, Windows 8 is ideal to me.
