Yeah I cancelled my Lenovo order. Not interested in waiting till October to get my hands on one. I'll try my luck at Best Buy.

It's a shame too - the price was great.

i called in to ask when mine was shipping and to cancel if it was the 23rd.

they said that they were actually shipping september 2nd now.... so i didnt cancel.

well just me, but i'm assuming a lot of other people will ship early too. i didnt even order that early.

AFAIK the BB sale was supposed to start tomorrow, but either way Acer has officially dropped the price to $349 for that model, so any retailer that picks it up should have it at the same price from now on.

got a aspire one for $379 with everything included today. 1.6ghz atom, 1gig ram and about 105 gb usable HD space (they took 5GB for restore).

I am pleased with it so far, the screen could be bigger but seeing the resolution is the same with the lenovo and I am seeing everything clearly, it's not hindering. The mouse button layout is not a problem because you can tap the pad for left click, double tap and keep press to simulate holding down the mouse button. Basically same deal with all other laptop. It would be nice to have something like apple has when you touch with 2 fingers it is right click and drag, but without is won't be a deal breaker to me.

Oh and it comes with a sleeve.

very cool !

ivan2 - is the acer 1 upgradable? IE - HDD and more memory?

onze, I am unsure at this moment. I do notice that windows start up time is a minute and 20 seconds.

I picked up the Acer as well. I thought about getting the lenovo but Oct is way too long of a wait. These things are only going to get better and cheaper so I need my toy now.

Also got aspire one (but for $279).

The trackpad has lot of nifty features as such as fling and pinch(!) . I hate track pads but this was not too bad.
The screen is great and the keyboard feels pretty good.

Memory is upgradable but you have to remove most of the components to get to it (but not too hard).

Since XP machines come with 1gb, I wonder if its 2 x 512 or 1gig stick on the mb?

And where is the o/c feature that EEEs have!!! 😀

I think is 512mb soldered on and have 1 free 200pin slot that you can stick a ram in. So to replace we probably can go for either 1.5gig or 2.5gig total.

Hyperthreading on this little thing is nifty(delusional but i like it =P)

That;s the thing, the linux version is like that. 512mb soldered on MB and one free slot.
but with XP versions it comes with 1gig and I wonder if its 1gig soldered on or 512 + 512.. hmm

I ran CPU-Z but it didnt help. just showed information on 1 slot as 512 and didnt show any other slot. but total memory is 1gig.. hmmm perhaps that means its 512+512.

how'd you get yours for $279? I just dropped $375 on mine (after tax).

As for the memory, i'm fairly certain it's 512 soldered on, and 512 in the slot. I would be curious to know though if I can expand it to 2.5g, or if I'll be capped at 1.5g. Hmm...

i think you had to sign up for cable internet, and then cancel it or something like that at best buy.

acer owners - how well is it built? I went to BB on saturday but couldnt find the deal, so they probably had the laptops in back till the sale.

The build quality is actually quite good.
screen is nice, keyboard is nice. trackpad is nice.
I really want more than 2 hrs of battery life tho... I'll just wait till 6cell is sold seperatly.
