Lenovo computer?

techs

Lifer
I saw my first Lenovo desktop in my shop today. From their "consumer" line.
What a joke. It has this huge red light on the front that looks like the Easy Button from Staples. Turns out its a rotating knob which you can choose to set at Turbo, Cool and some other setting I forget.
It comes with some crappy built in back up software that Vista disables after you run the Vista updates as "not compatible". Of course the Lenovo website, which doesn't even list that model, doesn't have any update for the software, as per their forums.
So I go to uninstall it. And then Vista won't boot.

Seriously, I don't know if the Lenovo business line, or the their ThinkPads are made any better, but all in all, IBM must be laughing their *ss off that they Lenovo paid money for their name and are now screwing up big time.

I doubt IBM is laughing, Lenovo still owes them money. Lenovo didn't pay for the IBM name either, they bought the laptop desktop division.

I bought my Thinkpad T61 about 1.5 years ago, and its build quality is spectacular. That's because it uses IBM's design from before the Lenovo deal, though. Even the Thinkpad line is going downhill now that Lenovo's doing new designs (like the W series).

Lenovo's corporate products are built like tanks.
I agree. Working on a ThinkCentre, I can say it's designed very well.
Not for the windowed, CC lighting crowd, but they are good for what they're built for.

a karate chop n voila fixed

I can vouch for the old Thinkpad laptop build quality - I still refurbish a T20/21/22/23 once in a while when someone wants a cheap laptop for a kid going off to school. Those things just don't know when to quit. Plunk in enough RAM and they're still nice little systems and light enough that they don't break backs toting them around.

IIRC, I once saw somewhere that they are still using the same design center for the ThinkPad line as IBM did... which is located in JAPAN!!!
