Whoa.

It's like, in some countries, the Matrix forgot what real Lemonade tastes like, and substituted... Sprite?

Edit: @Red Squirrel , please let us know if they have "real" (American - Water, Lemon, Sugar) Lemonade in Canuckistan, thanks.

Can they get this in Canada or Australia? Country Time Lemonade powdered drink mix?

Americans are easily confused!

Do you not have stuff like cherryaid? Is that not fizzy?

In some parts of the deep south they call EVERYTHING coke.
People keep making this claim, but it's misatributed to the south. I've been in Georgia my whole life and had family in Florida. I've never known anyone who used "Coke" as a generic term for soda / soft drink.

Fuck no. Any "-ade" drink would never be fizzy. NEVER!

An "-ade" is a fruit juice derived drink - or (if you stretch the meaning) a NON-CARBONATED artificial drink that tries to copy the flavor of a juice drink.

No fucking way a carbonated cherry drink would ever be called "cherryade" in USA.

...also: "-aid?"

"Does this mean a significant portion of the global population don't know what to do when life hands you lemons?"

This is a very good question.

Lemonade is lemonade. If we decide to add dry ice to carbonate it, we call it fizzy lemonade or sparkling lemonade. Sprite is carbonated HFCS and has no shared lineage with lemonade.

Lemonade is lemon juice + water + sugar, chilled even in Canada.

But given it is Australia, maybe they never got lemon trees til modern times.

Chick-fil-A has good fresh lemonade. I get it almost every day. Usually split with unsweet tea so I don't have quite as much sugar.

I heard on This Old House that there are some lemons you can make lemonade with without sugar. But you can't have lemonade without lemons, or with seltzer.

Next you'll tell me foreigners can't tell the difference between orange juice and Orange Crush!

Yea, but that's just the flavor it aspires to. Some of Polar's seltzer waters have lemonade in the name, but no sane person would think that was an acceptable lemonade proper.

See that would be a cordial, squash or juice here depends on the drink.
"...and a 'NON-CARBONATED artificial drink that tries to copy the flavor of blackcurrant' for the kid" is a bit of a mouthful when I'm getting my daughter a blackcurrent squash at the pub!

Cheerwine!
Is this supposed to be 'cherrywine'? Because I've wondered what that is since it was in the song!

Call anything non alcoholic "wine" or "cider" here and be prepared to have a massive amount of complaints and possibly litigation unless you clearly label it as non alcoholic and put it in the special non alcoholic section.

In a world descending towards anarchy because of TP shortages and pathetic snowflakes who get triggered by people buying TP now you're telling us that different parts of the world call things by different names? What fresh level of hell is this? Fuck it, let the infected bats have the Earth, mankind clearly failed.
