It's snowing a lot. Want to come over? We will dump my Lego blocks out onto my carpeted living room floor and make things.

I still have all my legos in my mom's attic. I used to play with them at least 3 - 4 hrs / day, every day, for ten years.

My mom threw away my legos when I was like 14 or something, complaining I was too old for them.

Man I'd still be playing with them today if I had 'em

My Lego Mindstorm kit is around the house somewhere. That'd be fun to break out and play with. Sadly, home is not here and thus.. no legos for me. :(
it was fun trying to create a new little bot, see what kind of things you could think up for it to do, then go about accomplishing that with drag-and-drop pre-canned programming. :D it was awesome.

and I also really want the new version of the Mindstorm kit. I still have V 1.0, they released like 1.5 about a year after I got my kit.

I used to spend hours building multi-colored buildings. Good times...

Is it true that the new lego sets are more structured in what you can/cannot build? Much of the fun was making what was on the box and then combining all the blocks.

well if you use the special pieces, they have always been limited as to what you can use.. but you can kind of take the concepts and customize it, or combine the concepts of different sets and make your own ultimate badass creation. :)

I actually been thinking about buying some Lego. What do you have, can I just buy like a bucket to make things or I have to by the pre-designed stuff ?

what sucked for me is when lego started making more and more pieces that were large custom pieces, like say a large solid piece for a wall section. Or a large piece to make some curvy design. It started getting too prevalent in that you couldn't really use them to make your own custom designs since they were so specific, unlike the totally anonymous standard blocks.

I LOVE Legos. I have two huge bins sitting in my basement. I remember building those big pieces (like the semi truck or space sets). Half the fun of those, though, was taking them apart after it was done to make other things or other "super creations".

the larger sculptures are almost exclusively standard pieces. I don't like Star Wars, but that 5,000 piece set gets me all hot and bothered. Mmm.... :p

I had a little city setup with houses and businesses, gas station, fire station, horse stable, truck stop, still have all of them at my parents and I don't have any plans of getting rid of them. I almost studied architecture because of them.

I like getting both because some of the pre-designed stuff comes with some nifty pieces that you don't find in the buckets.

I will buy anyone's Lego set that is just collecting dust. I'm rebuilding my collection for the day I find time and friends to play with.

Going rate for bulk pieces is $6/lb.

God I have so many legos. They're stashed away in the attic somewhere. Building those kits (I mostly had castles and ships) was so fun. Over time it just became a few huge boxes full of pieces :p

I prefer buying the themed sets as opposed to the generic builder set.

Classic Lego Space
Futuron
Blacktron II
Lego Town
Lego Nasa
Lego Star Wars
Lego Technique
Lego Model Team

Every summer I go to garage sales in search of legos...
Man I wish they still sold the good old sets.

I was playing with mine, albeit not very often, when I was 16 or 17. Now that I have my own house, I should dig them out of my parents crawlspace and bring them back home. I can't wait to have kids so I'll have an excuse to play with them again.

Agreed. I mean, you need stuff like antenaes and wheels, hinge pieces, etc...but the custom pieces started to get pretty ridiculous. If I wanted a model of something, I could have bought one for a lot cheaper then a lego set.
