I thought it wasn't that bad actually, until I saw the Gar, that thing looked like it was cgi from Sam Rami's Hercules/Xena. On top of that it didn't even look anything like what the book described them as. Double fail.

FYI, the new season started this weekend. The season will be loosely based on book 2, Stone of Tears. They have upped the hottie quotient substantially, and I hear Jolene Blalock will be a playing a recurring role as a Sister of the Dark.

No, the show isn't particularly good, but there's about 10 police procedurals, 5 lawyer shows, and 5 medical shows on every week, but the sword/sorcery genre is mostly absent on tv so I tune in.

I watch it and aside from the eye candy, the show is trash. I'm a fan of the books and I can't keep up with all the changes to the story line they've made, most for no reason at all. I've relegated it to the "watch on 2nd monitor while doing unimportant stuff" along with B-movies I d/l and other barely watchable trash like Heroes.

To be fair, the eye candy is significant. I'll watch Mord Sith bathing each other all day. :sneaky:

And at least they've gone back a little toward the books. Richard is Lord Rahl now. (Even if all the D'Harans can't sense him). And he has a Mord Sith bodyguard, so I'll keep tuning in. As Jonks said, it's different than 99% of the other crap on.

It's horrible. The books were actually good.

Please do NOT watch it. Bad adaptations should not be awarded.

The acting is pretty bad... we watched most of the first season on netflix streaming and I wanted to tear my eyes out. Actually made me appreciate what an artful masterpiece Deep Space Nine was. :p

WTF are you on? The first two showed the trappings of an excellent series but the rest failed miserably.

I'm lovin the show, it was a very pleasant surprise to find the second season got picked up.

And DAMN, did they get the right chick to play Cara. Very well casted, a nice replacement for the Hercules / Xena shows that have vanished lately.

If you like Erickson you can also read Glen Cook's Black Company novels while waiting for more quality writing from Erickson & Martin. This TV series looks terrible and while SoT started out well, Confessor has been sitting on my shelf for 3 months and I haven't even opened it.

Addendum: Thank God someone else doesn't like Donaldson. Thomas Covenent is nothing but a whining bitch; I empathize more with the vampire huntress / quasi-romance protagonists (whom I can't empathize with at all).

Omg I read that series in High school, the first series I actually regretted starting. Donaldson can drone on and on with no point for longer than anyone else.

Damn, lots of people defending him here, must be English majors. His writing was horrible.

Unbeliever bored me to tears, as well as being ultimately pointless plotwise, but Donaldson's other fantasy series, Mordant's Need, is a terrific action packed duology.

The show is gone. Yes, I know it's old-ish news (known for a few months), but I just watched season 2. I loved the show very very much. It hit just the right spot in my mind for showing different kinds of relationships, how they start, form and evolve. Especially the one between the Seeker and Mother Confessor. I really hope the show gets resurrected because of the community efforts (Save the Seeker) and we get at least a few more seasons.

Not to mention Bridget Regan is pretty much the sexiest actress I have ever seen. Reading her interviews is pure pleasure - she's the most humble, easy going and open minded actress I know.

The show had "that something". It had a "soul", something that's not describable and so very rare is everything we see in today's TV.

I'm getting all the books now (11, I believe?). I'm pretty sure reading through them all will be pure pleasure.

Sounds like your giving it a little too much credit.
I enjoyed first season, for most part. And was disappointed to hear they axed it after second season. But I can understand folks being disgusted with how they butchered the story. I do feel it would have been handled better if given to superior creators.

I thought this was the reason why we watch Legend of the Seeker.

You will get much more enjoyment out of the books instead of the series. I lost interest in the series after they botched one of the major plot points from the beginning. Spoiler for the novel series:
In the first book, Richard was tasked by Zed to memorize the Book of Counted Shadows since he was a boy. This is ultimately how he defeats Lord Rahl at the end of the book.
There was no turning back for me after they messed that one up.

I don't even know how this will affect the rest of the tv series as the plot point they missed affects the ending of the entire book series.

Well, I enjoyed watching it :) It had something that was really great to watch. Though I can't really tell what it was.

Won't read the spoilers :p

The show had its flaws of course. There were so many inconsistencies it's not funny :p But the chemistry between characters, the way they interacted and their personal journey while fulfilling their destiny is something I found really refreshing and addictive to watch. The series for me wasn't about magic or a flawless plot. It was about the people :)

I watched every episode but aside from the eye candy, it was trash. Even the slow motion fights that seemed awesome in the beginning got old and cliche by the end.
