Would it be legal to ingest a website, "mobilize" it, and then host it?

I visit another forum and a lot of people want a mobile version of the site mainly for speed reasons and better usability. I'm guessing this is illegal since the original site is copyrighted?

What if I made a phone application that basically did the same thing? Since I'm not actually hosting anything, that should be fine right? Unfortunately that kind of defeats the purpose of saving download time on a phone.

Well, why don't you ask the webmaster or the person that owns the site if they mind if you do this? I mean, kinda obvious.

I may actually do this after writing a simple version. I believe it would actually be fairly easy since I've already done some similar stuff via Greasemonkey.

I just took a game called "Crysis", and re-sold it as "Crisis" which is essentially the same game as Crysis but only runs on a low resolution w/ no graphic options so that laptop users can run it.

I'm going to sell this game and then keep all the profits.

Nope. But the web isn't a computer game. Much of the web is borrowed content.

ah, I thought you were doing this to make a profit.... yeah, just ask whoever you want to do it w/ to see if theres a problem. They may like the increased traffic.
