like I said, it depends on the circumstances, the jurisdiction, etc. If dart doesn't want to provide any additional details, there isn't a clear cut answer.
As an example... Cops pay for damages

If the po-lice break down ya do', you gots other troubles!
If it was in err then you sue the poop out of the city for muy more than the cost of the door. If 'tweren't then yer prolly on your own.
Either way, I'd take it as a wake-up call, as 'twere, to install a secure door not so easily violated. Most doors (and windows of course) merely suggest "keep out" rather than doing anything about it.

So, so true. A solid hardwood door is not going to break, but 99.999% of door frames are wood and a 13 year old kid can easily shatter it (and no, those metal strikers and guards don't do jack).

The trick is to wait until they are running towards the door with the battering ram and then quickly opening just before impact. They go spilling all over the place while you laugh & tase them before they get on their feet.

I know this from experience. The doors in the dorms at my college were sturdy as hell with metal frames, but the apartment I lived in had regular wood frames. All of your force is going into pushing a 3/4" latch against maybe an inch thick piece of wood. Try telling the police that you accidentally kicked in a door though!
